Automatic concepts

In all SAAB factories there used to be a big sign: “Quality is not created by control, it has to be there before then.” That says enough about the quality that was strived for: aircraft quality. That had to be clear when you saw the car and drove it; the attention to detail made SAAB a quality concept.

Saab 90, affordable class

SAAB was in dire need of a model in the affordable class, the entry-level 90 did exactly what it had to do for the target group. You have to love a classic SAAB, and if you do, you have a beautiful car. But make no mistake, it is and remains a real SAAB with plenty of character. The proof is the almost 40-year-old SAAB 90 from Gaatze, a real beauty, it looks shiny; the condition is technically and optically optimal.

Maximum lifespan for a Saab 90

The SAAB 90 was seen as the successor to the wildly popular 99, experts know that it was a combination of the 900 sedan and the unique elements of the 99. Gaatze is one of the new generation of classic and oldtimer enthusiasts who can make a difference in the future; he can ensure that the car is preserved and in the meantime enjoy the relaxing rides in the summer. Of course, it is not an everyday car, but purely for hobby pleasure.

Valuable tip

If you would like to know more about the origin story, then a visit to the site is recommended www.saab-90.nl a good option. Maybe you, like Gaatze, will suddenly turn into a whirlwind of enthusiasm.

Documentation

Documentation can tell something about the car, but they remain puzzle pieces that tell part of the story. Gaatze: “The car comes from the far north of Scandinavia, where it can be extremely cold. It has electric engine heating, there is a plug for connection under the headlight. The story tells of the first owner who took excellent care of the car and gave it good shelter; not a grain of salt has touched the car.

Happiness from a hobby

Gaatze is a singer and entertainer, every performance is a party. (If you type Gaatze Bosma on Google you will see his artist existence.) A car hobby is then a pleasant pastime, where contacts with other enthusiasts provide nice experiences and exchange of knowledge. It is no wonder that he is as proud as a peacock of his Swedish beauty.

Gaatze: “I am one of those dreamers who keeps looking at a classic car passing by for as long as possible. Now I am happy with my special SAAB 90, a family car with a sporty character and incredible features. Fortunately, I am much younger (29) than the SAAB's odometer indicates. I feel lucky because of my performances in the country and the possession of my cream-white SAAB 90. I am enjoying it immensely and I seem to be beaming from ear to ear, on the way I see many people looking; this SAAB turns out to be a striking appearance, and of course that attention is also pleasant.

  1. Special to hear that Gaatze is such an enthusiast. The Saab 90 was for sale on Marktplaats for €5500,-. After it was sold, it appeared on Marktplaats within a week for €12.500,-. I think Gaatze uses this beautiful magazine as a springboard for his trade.

  2. A very nice article that I was alerted to via the Saabforum Facebook group. This 90 is known in our Saab 90 Register (www.saab-90.nl). If the owner of this 90 sees this, would he please contact us via our website? This, to be able to make our register a bit more complete!

  3. The Saab 90 is a combination of the rear of the newer 900 and the front of the 99 (not the 96).
I have been driving my 36 sedan (same rear as the 900) for 90 years with great pleasure and without any problems, together with my 900 convertible (10 years old)
