Purchasing classics there

Once upon a time there was an AMK reader who bought a car in the States. A Cadillac of course. He drove his acquisition from the coast side where he bought it to the coast from where he would be shipped.

And in that process something strange happened ...

As a European, he loosely kept to the strict maximum speeds in the land of Ome Sam. And so he ran on an empty highway past an American who exemplified himself at the speed. The American caught up with him and went at the absolute maximum speed - five miles per hour for our Dutchman.

He gave direction and went by again with a European course of 120.

That happened twice more.

Now you can argue forever about what is allowed and who was right, but on the fourth time it happened, the Dutchman looked surprised at the apparently self-appointed traffic controller and raised a hand questioningly.

Later he saw that the American had not only threatened but also shot. When the shock was gone, that bullet hole became a fantastic reminder of a unique journey.

A few years later, our Cadillac enthusiast got into a collision through no fault of their own. The insurance was good for it, but at the car damage repair company, 1 thing was explicitly agreed: The front screen could be completely neat again, but the bullet hole had to remain in it.

When collecting the car, the front screen was straightforward again:
And the bullet hole was invisibly repaired ...

Sadly, the car enthusiast said: "And then it was no longer my car ...."

The Cadillac has since found a new home…
