On Saturday 27 August 2016, the eighth edition of the Twijzelerheide Oldtimer Festival takes place. The event in the Fryske Wâlden promises to be a versatile spectacle as usual. The program is a nice blueprint from last year. In addition, the festival in the Frisian village will welcome a real scoop this year.
Old stunt attraction from Sweden
For the 2016 edition, the organization of the Oldtimer festival Twijzelerheide managed to catch the Steile Wand stunt attraction from Sweden. At this attraction, drivers race on motorcycles in a large barrel-shaped bowl of approximately nine meters. The Steile Wand has a long tradition. It comes from 1937. The organization calls this aspect 'spectacular', with a sense of understatement.
Grass rink competitions and beautiful vintage cars
In addition to the presence of the Steile Wand, more "motorized two-wheeler parts" will take place during the Oldtimer festival. About 160 drivers compete for the coveted first place during the grass rink competitions. In addition, there are again numerous vintage cars, motorbikes, trucks, mopeds and tractors to be admired this year. The V8 drivers make their appearance with American classics. In addition, AVC de Fryske Wâlden is represented with beautiful cars from the club. There is also a market with parts for vintage cars. There is also a traditional market with an eel smoker, antique ice cream trucks and many stalls with delicacies.
Street theater
Last year the festival started with street theater programming. "That was such a success that we have a few street theater acts on the program again this year. A very nice show that appeals to both young and old. And we are very happy that for the first time in years we have been able to get a bodypainter to Twijzelerheide, "according to the organization. "We have a wonderful nostalgic fun fair for the children with a glider, bungy jumping trampoline, jeans hanging, merry-go-round, car painting, a quad track and inflatables."
Moped record
Last year, the Oldtimerfestival Twijzelerheide for the first time managed to set a Frisian record for the most number of mopeds in a row. 'We want to break that record this year. We hope that we can realize at least 350 mopeds in a row, 'says the organizer. 'After the record attempt, they go on a nice tour through the Frisian Woods.' This means that beautiful classic mopeds (Kreidler, Zündapp, Eysink) will be on display both on the festival site and in the leafy surroundings of Twijzelerheide.
Music
In addition to all outdoor activities, there are music performances by various artists throughout the day. The festival is closed in the evening by Lytse Hille and the cover band Lead. "It promises to be a great event," the organization said. "And of course we have a spectacular fireworks show again this year at 21.30."

The site is open on Saturday 27 August from 10.00 a.m. Admission for adults is 8 euros. Children up to the age of twelve can join for free. Entrance party tent in the evening, 10 euros.
