Earlier we reported that we ended up in a dog-friendly hotel in Zeeland, on Walcheren. But there is more to Zeeland than hotels and beaches. There is an active classic happening.

Every year, 200 oldtimers and classic cars can be admired on the festival site at Hofplein in Axel. There are also old agricultural vehicles, trucks, motorcycles, mopeds and bicycles. The vehicles are highly variable and of high quality. Special examples are always available, the oldest vehicles date from ± 1915. The participants are offered a varied package. In the morning there is a puzzle ride through the (Zeeland) Flemish landscape and in the afternoon there is a small tour through Axel, ending in a concours d'élegance on the Markt in the Center of Axel.
In the meantime there is a static show on the Hofplein. So there are various possibilities to view the vehicles. Most oldtimer owners like to explain their classic car, sometimes it is even possible to drive, for example with the concours d'élégance. The prize-giving ceremony and raffle are at ± 17.00, after which all participants will also receive a nice memory.
There is a curio market from 10.00 am, the shops and museums are open from 12.00 noon. Of course there is a great diversity of terraces. Various orchestras walk in the streets and on the stage of the festival site are performances by a sixties band. There are also fun children's attractions.
And 70 years after the end of WWII, Axel is also on the Traces of War path. And that remains impressive.
