Someone recently bought another neat classic. A car with beautiful alloy wheels. And of course it was that time again: the special cap nut to loosen and tighten the anti-theft wheel bolts of the car was missing.
In the most favorable case, the release is achieved by ramming a slightly too small pipe or socket wrench over the nut head.
But usually that doesn't work.
Drilling a hole in the bolt to tackle the matter with a 'wrong-turning tap', that only goes for the cheap ones. More expensive bolts have a hardened heart in the head that no drill gets a grip on.
Fortunately, there are special sets for sale at the specialist car stores to solve the problem - in 99% of the cases.
And in that one case? We know of someone who drags his rims into so many chunks with the angle grinder that he finally found a grip on the bolt head with a pipe killer.
And he only became really sad when he later, when removing the front seats, found the appropriate mounting and dismantling cap.
