Hercule Poirot (leek) is a fictional, mildly eccentric Belgian detective
He plays the lead role in a book series by Agatha Christie, who strongly disliked her creation. Poirot is often assisted by Captain Hastings and / or Chief Inspector Japp of Scotland Yard. The highly idiosyncratic, brilliant Belgian has also appeared in films and TV series.
David Suchet (London, 2 May 1946) is an English actor who has become best known for his rendition of Hercule Poirot, and he is our favorite Poirot.
Of course cars also appear in the films and on TV
Classics of course. These are usually black copies of British 'official cars, think of a Vauxhall Light Six - some taxis and obligatory TAs. But recently my Lief got a Poirot box and one of the discs contained the episode 'the adventure of the Italian Nobleman'. It featured a car dealer of whom one of Poirot's companions, Captain Hastings who previously drove a Lagonda, wanted to buy a car, a sports car, an Eliso Freccia. And what kind of car was that?
Eliso Freccia was not a car brand
Some research showed that the car in the episode is most likely a Alfa Romeo 8C wash. But in the episode in question, considerable damage was done to the Eliso Freccia. And that didn't seem like an option for an episode of a detective series. Search work revealed that the Alfa was indeed not used for that collision. Before the collision, a cake - apparently barely rideable - was made based on the chassis of a Beetle, a knocked-out replica nose of the Alfa, some targeted hammer and buts work and a trick shot. The owner of the Alfa was also during the recordings. And he didn't want the actors to ride in his pride.
Cars in flims, that's a thing
The Eliso Freccia was therefore fake. But many cars have become famous because they "performed" in films. There are even people who say that without 007 films, Aston Martins would never have become so famous. And even the Mister Bean's Mini with its padlock on the driver's door has become iconic. They are even made into replicas.
In our opinion, the most bizarre example of images on the impact of sales was the live pursuit in 1994 of a fleeing OJ Simpson in his white Bronco pickup. These images led to top sales of white Bronco pickups. The car itself was later sold for $ 700.000.
But for the time being we are happy that we have checked what that Eliso Freccia actually was
We even feel somewhat detective about it. And because there are a lot of other Poirot episodes in the collection box, we would like to see the autumn evenings coming. Add a glass and a cigar. Before going to sleep, do some musing with a Auto Motor Klassiek in the hands. Then go to bed satisfied. Dreaming about an Eliso Freccia. And then it's spring before you realize it.
