A car that befriends you, at least that's what General Motors wanted. The Opel Kadett was spacious, spicy and handy, certainly because there were different versions such as the caravan and the coupé. This beautiful 70-55-BU from 1966 is a luxury car in all respects, first and foremost a car that almost never left the showroom of the local dealer in Dokkum (Opel Wouda) and was exhibited for years. After the company closed, the Opel came into the hands of a collector, and yes, a discussion about who has the best? You can't make that in classic country, every brand has got its crowd of supporters, the appeal is different for everyone. What is in common is the passion for automotive history. This Opel Kadett is therefore a beautiful era from the 60 years. DdJ
I thank the editors for sending this type of articles. And indeed free too. I read them with great pleasure, and hope to receive them for a long time.
It is a very late copy, because this A-Kadett was built until the summer holidays of 1965. They were indeed good quality cars, they had to be, because the Kadett was the weapon against the then supreme VW 1200. To displace the Beetle, it had to be just as solid, but offer more space, have a large trunk, a strong water-cooled engine where it belongs (between the front wheels), a fully synchronized gearbox, a working heater, a large glass area and all for the same price, where maintenance had to be cheaper and the trade-in value higher.
The Kadett has succeeded in everything.
My sister drove such an Opel Kadett for years, never any problems. One day she came to visit me and told me that the Opel was a nice car. Only the acceleration wasn't great, as it turned out, she always accelerated in third gear. The first and second gears were a revelation for her at the time. Opeltje had had a hard time but did not budge. Great little car.
Was your sister blonde?
Reminds me of the story of the lady who bought a new Daffodil but kept coming back with complaints: "he is so bucking at the traffic light" and "he uses so much".
The mechanic couldn't find anything wrong every time and was despondent. Until he had an idea. "Maybe you keep driving at full throttle or something". He was allowed to ride a bit.
The lady got in, pulled out the choke a bit, hung her purse on it and drove off like that, "yes, handy, that extendable hook".
Beautiful reportage and stunningly beautiful photos. Not!
If there is no dust, you don't have to vacuum ... vacation time?
We normally publish one article per day, yesterday 2 with this. A photo with an extensive caption. Nice is not it? And completely free of charge!
Nice piece of a beautiful cart 🙂
