Therapeutic motorcycling… Time enough…

Purchasing classics there

My friend Henk has grown into a manager of expensive things in the quarter of a century that he has been involved in his field. His engine passion was therefore condensed to commuting. But at least he drove daily. The company he worked for is flourishing. That scent of success entered the eager nostrils of an American investment club. He bought the tent. The direct consequence of this was a 'shake out'. The Americans found that many people had been working there for so long that they fell asleep or corrupted had to to be. That's another way of saying, "Get those old expensive bags out." It was time for 'change management', for fresh blood.

New brooms sweep clean

The new management and board types were chosen from M / F people, who smoothly combined greed with ambition, so real neo-liberals. Henk was called to the Nieuwe Bovenbaas (/ V), who showed the carnal evidence that three waves of emancipation can also bring out the worst in women. The message was: “You have been working here for so long and in such a position that there must simply have been a conflict of interest. That is why you will be removed from your position immediately. You will hear from our legal department. Your interim deputy will contact you. You can go. ”

So 'Kaltgestellt'

People have had an infarction or have been manslaughter for less. The BMW that Henk had just bought worked therapeutic overtime. Tinkering with his other BMW that he had been looking forward to for years turned out to be less fun in the current stress frames than he had hoped. His key project seemed to pity him with his rear light. Henk did not have the peace to start. And so the beginning did not give him rest.

Henk turned to his own lawyer and turned from a dedicated staff member into a cynic who was firmly convinced that a person could have even more incurable Corona-related Ebola than management. On the positive side, he reported in month three of the battle and a lot of therapeutic miles: “Motorcycling is not life-threatening. Motorcycling saved my life. ”

Everything is very temporary

Because business has become more dynamic since the first manager's thawing out of the Siberian permafrost, the End Boss in the process was cleaned up and the Top Boss / V lost her back cover. She fell into caricatured women's behavior 1.0 and amplified the attacks based on emotionality that she decisively used as facts.

That was grist to the mill of Henk's lawyer

Henk's manager panicked and - for the first time since Henk's 'Kalt Setting' - contacted the canceled employee. He said that Henk was allowed to go back to work because 'no crimes had yet been found in his administration'.

In the meantime, Henk's BMW had +15.000 kilometers on the clock and, having become assertive through experience, he had taken on his own battle. His new Blue / White turned out not to be brine-resistant and the suggestion from the service department that he should of course rinse his steed with lukewarm water after every winter ride, was not appropriate in the context of the expected price / quality ratio. In the meantime, it is spring and the BMW is once again doing an exemplary job, but is leaving due to a proven lack of quality. In addition to the restoration project he has been working on for so long, Henk has bought a neat R100R and happily reports: "At least that's a real BMW."
And the Bovenbaas / V is at home with a burnout.
She has therefore not passed her 'shake out management' diploma.

Early retirement

Henk's lawyer has filed a big claim and Henk has decided that whatever the outcome, he never wants to return to his employer. He is going to enjoy his grief and compensation. He goes motorcycling again for fun. The Americans meanwhile want to get off the store again. They think the Dutch are a stupid people who do not know what is good for their employers. And they currently have very different problems.

And that is a happy ending. However?

  1. Thanks for the nice story again Dolf.
Fortunately, it can be done differently.
But because of these stories, the corona grief is again in the background for a while and a lot of people are happy with that.
    Greetings asn Henk.
