There is Light!

China lampThere is Light! If only it were that easy!

Just heard from an MOT inspector next to the car of a customer who saw his car disapproved for an incorrect light image / insufficient light.

That problem can have a few very simple solutions. Disapproval with light is - also at the RDW - often a case of Chinese lights.

Those China Made halogen seeds do not cost anything at all, such as the Action. They produce a light image that is worth about the same as the Chinese simply have a unique idea of quality control: If something is sold, then the quality is good.

And don't pay too much attention to real sounding names from China. In the 1 factory, 1 factory is quickly made there under 100 + names. And if 1 of those names is Bosch?

A visit to the garage or the recognized auto parts trade such as the Brezan can immediately provide a solution.

The second point is also often easy to solve. Reflectors with some combat experience have often lost the sharpness of their shine. Never attack such a reflector with polishes or polishes. the vapor-deposited reflection layer is really too thin for that.

What does help? Can help?

Tear some pieces of kitchen paper and put them in the lamp hole. Then make sure that the air tank of your compressor contains no condensed water and blow into the headlight. If all is well, the pieces of tissue will now 'clean' the reflector, or clean enough.

In our car care special - which is still limited available in paperbut in full as a pdf - we also have an article about cleaning lamp glasses, among other things.

Success.

  1. Was actually looking for a way to restore the reflection layer that is bad with my little car near / around the lamp. That layer therefore becomes dull. The lens is made of glass and can be removed and cleaned. In a hobby shop I saw an aerosol with a shiny “chrome” paint. Would that be something? Or is that not resistant to the halogen lamp? My car was rejected on those lamps because they no longer saw the light beam drawing. Have still scored replacements on Marktplaats. But they didn't look much better. I got it through the MOT, but I fear that this solution will be short-lived. By the way, it is a Volvo 440 2.0 automatic.

  2. This is about the reflectors of the headlight, but the image is also often weakened by a dull blown headlight glass (or plastic). Often this can easily be solved with a cleaner like Comm.4;).
