Erik Riemersma and his friends are always looking for excitement, thrills and adventure. Who doesn't know the stories that every boy wanted to be a police officer or a firefighter? Together with his friends he accomplished something, accomplished something. About five years ago, they found this Trabant 601 S in an old warehouse in Groningen.

The Trabant 601 S had served as a command car on the Rügen peninsula - in the XNUMXs - in northern Germany. Erik and his friends thought nothing more beautiful than to restore the old Trabant… In fact. It set Erik and his friends on fire.
Of course that did not happen automatically. Many parts had to be found. Be creative to troubleshoot a 50 year old car. So patience and even more energy was the motto. There is now even a foundation Brandweer Damwoude, of which the red East German service car is part.
He can ride with classic rides as a hobby firefighter. Without siren and flashing lights, but with a lot of interest and thumbs up. This fire red Trabant 601 S is now a source of pleasure. A pure beauty of its simplicity is more than just possession. And we let ourselves get carried away with their enthusiasm by this story.
