Purchasing classics there

If you have been chef in a VW garage for 46 years and have experienced the very successful development, you can certainly speak of 'the world of Volkswagen' with him. A man who knows the entire VW catalog by heart and who effortlessly mentions the serial numbers of all parts. He is now rightfully 'Pensionado' and enjoys his spare time in which Volkswagen still plays a leading role.

By: Dirk de Jong

His son Benno worked on an oil rig off the coast of Brazil. He got in touch with a colleague - also a VW enthusiast. This colleague told him that he did know nice T1 buses for sale. At the time, that meant a reasonable price and accessible to buy a bus for his father Douwe and one for himself. So this is the Brazilian version of the characteristic Volkswagen T1 bus with its very strong image.

Price development

Douwe: “I am amazed at the price explosion. The prices of Beetles and buses keep shooting up. I now notice that I made a big mistake in the past. I could have saved many vans that went for pennies. Unfortunately, I did not have that foresight. I now know that there is no longer any depreciation. ”

head of Volkswagen

The owners of the VW Beetles and VW buses knew that they could count on the organization. There was a solid and reliable service that he was able to help shape for 46 years. Douwe now provides that perfect service to his own bus and that of his son. Every ride in the summer becomes a pleasure ride. It is now clear that both VW buses are cherished as treasures and have a prominent place in the lives of Douwe and Benno.

  1. Hi, we usually drive V8, or line 6, but always something, with a nice, lively sound. But also had many Italian cars. So classically super, but also luxurious. And yes, we do not understand the money madness idd vd vw prices, Suc6 with the vws

  2. JP, why is a beetle / bus to look at and not to drive? As previously written, we have been experiencing 22 years and 100.00 km. have fun with our T1 and already brought us to Tjsechie, Hungary, 2 x the GroszGlockner and a trip through the Dolomites. Comfort? Mwoah.
Fun and enjoy? ! 00%! Fall in value? Will fascinate me, don't have it as an investment but for pleasure. I wonder what you drive yourself.

  3. Dear Douwe, the truth is that both the beetle and the 356 (911), as well as the bus, are stolen designs! Nice to watch, not to drive. And the prices? They will soon collapse heavily

  4. In 1966 I learned to drive his bus in the bakery, a closed version with a / d / right side folding doors. I was 13 years old at the time, under the guise of I don't want to move the bus all the time, I will teach you that too. I Prepare proud.

  5. Once came across a T1 on its way to the top of the Großglockner. It was sweating speed at most 25 km / h. The man behind the wheel was completely happy. I also use my Lanscruiser 4.2 turbo.

  6. Very nice and appealing but a large airbag would not like to go on holiday with it, just no longer responsible nice to watch if you have a large room!

  7. Years ago I was at a classic fair where such a bar Samba was for sale for 125.000 euros. We walked away laughing, who pays such extortionate prices… are they completely ripped off the pot… an hour later we came by again and he was sold.

And who bought that then? Well, I once came to work under a manager, a mega-yuppie with square red glasses, embroidery, a lot of gel in his hair and very trendy shoes, who had indeed bought one “the design eh, and the character, we are going with the kids to Spain next month, very relaxed ”. To find out on the French Autoroute that the van, at least the handling, the soundproofing, the seats, are designed for short journeys on quiet country roads and that the air-cooled 32hp boxer on the roughest mountain passes of the Pyrenees is not your best friend. Not very relaxed, not even for the kids ..
