A whole bunch of films have been made about Arnhem. Wencel Maresch has written the book Oorlog aan de Veluwezoom about Dieren, Ellecom, Laag-Soeren and Spankeren in wartime.
That piece of history has intrigued him for years.
He thereby gives the war a 'local' face.
That is extra oppressive.
Because Nazi terror also reigned in the always so rustic Veluwezoom. The dreaded SS was widely represented by two training schools and an SS hospital.
War on the Veluwezoom describes the 40-45 period on the basis of dozens of intrusive interviews, diaries and documents. The whole is finished with unique photo material.
The isbn number is 90 808838-1-6, but the book can also be ordered directly from the writer: firstname.lastname@example.org.
