It is regularly told by 'experts' that nowadays with a VW Beetle or Bus with air-cooled engine it is no longer possible to drive on the highway for a long time and cannot be stuck in traffic jams. Climbing mountain ranges are completely out of the question, because the cooling of such an engine would not be able to withstand that ...
How did they do it in the past and should such a classic be kept in the stable or used for simple rides? No, such an air-cooled four-cylinder is perfectly resistant to that, provided that ... the ignition is correctly adjusted, the valve clearance is correct, but especially the oil cooler is clean! That oil cooler is mounted in the house of the cooling fin, becomes greasy after all these years of service, dust and other inconvenience comes on it. So disassemble and clean it well. Are the 'fins' all still present and in a model as the manufacturer had imagined? Provided the engine is completely standard, you do not need to take any further measures. However, if it has been tinkered with, that is, it has been boosted, you can mount an extra oil cooler (at the front) or purchase from those supports that keep the rear lid 5 to 7 centimeter open. Then the warm air can escape. Moreover, it looks tough ... ?!
Doesn't anyone know that the cooling is actually getting worse with the valve open ???
Dear,
Yesterday I was at what used to be called a post office (now a support point or the like?) To suspend two of my classics in the making. Great was my surprise when I was made to understand that that was not possible at the time. Now in the past I have had more difficulties because “something was going on” and that often turned out to be the result of misunderstandings. This time it turned out to be about something else, namely the fact that I was a day late with the suspension. Normally, that would not be insurmountable, were it not for the fact that the RDW had now sent me two license plate cards by post, which now turned out to be necessary to suspend again. However, this is not the end of it, because there is also a unique code with these cards and this is sent separately after the cards. Thus, nothing can be suspended until all documents have been delivered. You will understand that in the meantime I have my fingers crossed and will not receive any “fan mail” from Leeuwarden and Apeldoorn, which usually turns out expensive.

PS I am writing this message from a mobile device as my home PC cannot “handle” your website ie an error message appears, perhaps due to the fact that there is too much “flashy” content. You would be pleased if the web designers took into account that many of your visitors not only have a classic vehicle, but also a computer that is classic in this light ...
