Investing in classics remains largely a game of chance. But nobody has to pay a lot for it.
We are now in a transitional area where there are motorcycles on the market on the left and right-most of all - from owners who have decided by their age to do things differently.
This is currently leading to a somewhat wider selection of English classics.
The demand for British Iron, on the other hand, is rising again.
But there are absolutely 'runners up' at the moment. The legendary Honda CB 450 'Black Bombers' that until recently could not be sold above 6500 euros here in the Netherlands, now - if still offered and in top condition - already tick the 10 grand. We already saw one offered for 13.500 euros. But that is still a bit premature.
The successor to the Black Bomber, the CB 450 K1, which until recently was made fresh, is also busy with a prize. From unmarketable for 2500 euros to smooth away for 4000 + euros. Then the machine must have the correct tank and outlets.
And the people who thought they'd saved nearly enough for a Harley "WL" Liberator? They still have to go the extra mile.
Those brave side-valve workhorses are already here in NL between the 12500-14500 for a nice specimen. And what is offered often goes abroad, and fairly quickly.
Because in the US of A, for a correctly restored copy in combat kit, so not for civilian or civilized copies, almost 33500 dollars are already paid.
After all, the Russian M72 BMW R71 clones have also emerged from the prize pit.
These counterparts of the WLA / WLC Harleys meanwhile 'do' somewhere near the 5000-6500 euro.
And that is and remains a thief price for such absolute classics.
