Renault 4 vs Ford Sierra XR4i. That looks like a very far-fetched relationship. But Erik van Putten went for the March issue AutoMotorKlassiek looking for the surprising points of contact between those two quadricycles.
Okay, they're contemporaries
And Erik found them at the Drachtense Nosstalgia Classics. Although there is only a two-year difference in construction between the R4 and the XR4i, it appears that there is a huge technological gap between them. The R4 is the pinnacle of simple efficiency. And on this side of the screen is someone who helped his neighbor enormously when he had dropped the door of his R4 in the lock while the key was still in the ignition. With a hard blow with the flat of the hand in the sliding direction of the sliding window, the R4 was approachable again. And that was a completely different version of Tatjana Siic's "neighbor what are you doing now?"
The Ford Sierra XR4i was intended as a successor to the heavy, fast six-cylinder Capri's. But has never been able to achieve that ambition ...
