Volkswagen launched the VR concept in 1991. compact five and six cylinder engines. In this context, VR stands for Versetzte Reihe; a cross between a six-line and a V6.
Due to the sharp block angle, the compact VR6 fits into a Golf-like car. The six-cylinder turned out to be an innovative machine with power ratings of 150, 174 and 193 pk at the time of the introduction. These days there are not many leftover VR food left. They are becoming scarcer. Due to the concept (compact car with a thick engine), a Volkswagen with V (R) 5 or VR6 in the foreground has now become a painted classic. Our tips for the future are the Golf VR6 of the third generation, the Corrado VR6 with 193 hp and the Passat 3B, whether or not as a Variant with a delicious VR5 under the hood. But a fourth generation Golf V5 in excellent condition is also worth buying. For a Golf or Corrado you have to go deep in the pouch. A Passat is still reasonably affordable to buy. Don't wait too long ...
