Purchasing classics there

Arend is an excellent example of how motoring heritage should be cherished. He keeps his FIAT 850 Sport Coupé as original as possible, with careful maintenance and the understanding that the coupe is not intended for daily use. It is clear from his story that this little Italian thoroughbred is in the hands of a true enthusiast.

The story behind the proud possession

Arend shares: “I had been looking for a FIAT 850 Sport Coupé for years, but the supply in the Netherlands was scarce and the ones I found were often poorly maintained. In addition, I specifically wanted a model from my birth year, 1968, which made my search even more challenging. Eventually I came across a beautiful FIAT in southern Italy on an Italian car site, offered by an older gentleman who had since moved into an apartment. An initial attempt to make contact in English failed, but a conversation in my best coal Italian finally brought us together. The car was well maintained from the first purchase. My offer was accepted, and so began the long journey home with my son.”

FIAT 850 Coupé club

Membership of the FIAT 850 Coupé club offers Arend a special bond. The club brings together owners of the FIAT Coupé 850 types 1, 2 and 3, but is also open to other models such as the Coach, Special, Seata, Vignale, Lombardi and Moretti. Actively involved in technical days, parts supply and joint rides, the club is the glue that brings car hobbyists together.

The FIAT 850 is a great invention!

The FIAT 850 is more than just a car; it is an icon that met the many wishes of the motorist from a bygone era. With respectable performance and an attractive appearance, it was Italy's mass car at the time.

Enthuse

Arend wants to inspire others to drive a FIAT 850 classic. This year he has the honor of organizing the beautiful spring ride for the FIAT 850 Coupé club, an initiative that emphasizes the historical value and brings enthusiasts together to enjoy their beautiful vehicles. Cherishing and maintaining this popular model is almost a necessity to keep a piece of automotive history alive.

The club and its proud owners strive to provide positive media coverage, promoting the FIAT 850 Sport Coupé as a constant source of fun and entertainment.

  1. My first new car in 1968, I was very proud of it, a colleague from work was jealous of it. Many years later I met him again in my other workplace and he told me this story, I really enjoyed that car and went on holiday to Italy with it alone. Unfortunately sold in 1970 due to my work as a self-employed person because I needed a larger car.

  2. Fantastic little car. My friend had one. We both lived in Utrecht and regularly went to Zandvoort with the Fiat to make a splash and we succeeded. Many girls were impressed by the beautiful cart and regularly went for a ride with us. With all its consequences!! Had a great time, partly because of this Fiat 850 coupe

  3. I've had one for 2 years now too. My wife found the 600, also very beautiful, a bit claustrophobic. It sits very low but good and spacious enough, you can easily drive through traffic, we call it our mini Ferrari. This white one is very nice, in better condition than mine, enjoy.

  4. I got my driver's license in a Fiat 850 coach. My father bought a brand new 1968 in 850. Light blue with brown leatherette upholstery. Drove throughout Southern Europe during holidays. And that little engine just toils uphill. Keep going. Not a single cent of pain. 100.000 km driven

  5. Just stand level here so that the water can run out of my mouth on both sides. How beautiful it is!! The 850 was and has always been a lot of fun with a very reliable power source. The 850 Sport is beautiful!! This also applies to the small number plate on the front. Although I fear that the enforcers may not be very happy about that 😬. The sight of the car is endearing. Congratulations!!

  6. years ago, together with my wife, I founded the Fiat 850 club internationally and restored many 850s, unfortunately there were many members who did not find it worthwhile to pay the membership fee, and when the Fehac started to get involved, it was all over. I had a really nice time at the beginning of the club and did a lot of fun meetings and rides 🙂

    • what a shame John, well, all that effort you put in, free time, you know all about it: some people no longer have gratitude, but they do have an expensive hobby, and then nope, shame on you!!
