Purchasing classics there

The classic events of 2023 are now well underway. Next weekend the next beautiful indoor fair will take place in Ghent. On 18 and 19 February, the 33rd edition of 'the classic car salon' Flanders Collection Cars will be organized at the Flanders Expo. The previous edition was in 2020, which is why the organization can't wait to welcome classic fans to Flanders Expo in Ghent. Rightly so, because the stock market managers have put forward a few fine themes.

Off road main theme

This year the theme is 'offroad' in the spotlight. The organization is unpacking with a special exhibition of Range Rover Classics in hall 3. Moreover, Feryn Dakar Sport is present in hall 7 with the Dakar Rally setup. The Mercedes 6×6 race truck (2022 winner Classic Dakar Trucks) is one of the attractions. Pascal Feryn and Koen Wauters' Toyota 100 Classic will also attract above average interest.

Rally nod to Porsche's anniversary

This year, Porsche celebrates its seventy-fifth anniversary. That is why the organizers in Ghent put the spotlight on Porsche's rally history with a wink. 75 years of Porsche looked at Porsche's rally history with a wink. Thanks to 911 Motorsport, the new central “Collectors Club” bar in hall 5 will be transformed into a beautiful motorsport mancave. There, two Porsche 911 SC RS rally specimens will show off their feathers.

Varied offer, spread over three halls

In addition to the competitive sport-related main themes, the three halls in Flanders Expo will be filled with the offerings of approximately one hundred and fifty exhibitors. You will find a range within the range that runs from accessible old-timers to truly exclusive classics. In addition, during the event you can also look for beautiful vintage items and all kinds of other classic related materials. There are also plenty of options for eating a snack and a drink.

Expectations high

The organization sold 30% more tickets in advance compared to 2020. The expectation that Flanders Collection Cars will attract more than 10.000 visitors is therefore justified. You too can be there. For more information about the event and online ordering and ticket prices, go to the website of the event. Finally: when you visit Flanders Collection Cars and you come with your own classic car, you can park (for a fee) in front of the entrance to Flanders Expo. In any case, 'the salon' will be more than worthwhile, and you can of course also combine the visit with a ride through the area or a visit to the beautiful city center of Ghent.

  1. As long as so much 'Mazut' is allowed to be fired and fireplaces are allowed to crackle at will, such an unfortunate denunciation of old-timers is in fact only symbolic bullying politics. The Netherlands really isn't any better. Passenger cars with a diesel engine are almost regarded as illegal possession of weapons, while heavily polluting trucks or sprinter trains with diesel engines still visit cities. Burning biomass such as wood pellets is advertised as 'circular', while entire forests are being cleared for this purpose across the large lake and the creation of particulate matter is rampant. There is also still a lot of effort for (yes) growth of Schiphol. Compared to all that, old-timers are simply the sweetest boy in the class. Of course the government says I got all that wrong. However, if the Dutch state also had 70% shares in old-timers, as is the case at Schiphol, old-timers were promoted

  2. Now I wonder if all aid in Turkey and Syria is green. A crane truck that removes debris
and runs on diesel ………………………………….You get my drift.
    WTF

Beautiful cars at this fair, tribute.

  3. I don't really understand why an old-timer fair is still going on in a city with an old-timer hating city council.
Fortunately, the expo building is on the outskirts of the city, but if you want to take advantage of the opportunity and then dare to drive into the city with your oldtimer, you will have a high fine.
Paying day tickets are also no longer possible due to a recent ruling by the Council of State.

    • Peter, I understand your reaction, but in Ghent (and the surrounding area) there are a lot of old-timer enthusiasts. We also like to see the old-timer happening in our neighborhood. The GRW (Gentsche Retrowielen) is a club with +- 600 members. We, as Ghent residents, try to make the best of it. As a resident of the center I recently bought a garage just outside the LEZ zone for one of my old-timers. For 2024, we naturally hope that Groen will get such a kick in the ass that they will never get a job in Ghent again. But don't forget that the problem actually lies with Flanders (cabinet Zuhal Demir) which regulates the conditions for admission of old-timers to LEZ zones and, unlike Brussels and Wallonia, is much too strict. So you don't have to vote for NVA either...
