Purchasing classics there

About fifty icons of our mobile cultural heritage will participate in the '11 Villages Rally' this weekend. A route through the beautiful Hoeksche Waard, which starts in Oud-Beijerland. In addition, the Oldtimers Hoeksche Waard Foundation is organizing an oldtimer event on the same Saturday, May 13. After the start of the 11-Dorpen Rally has taken place around 10:00 am, no less than fifty classic cars can be admired during a presentation around De Vliet in the same Oud-Beijerland.

Tour through the Hoeksche Waard

Spring is the time of year to give your classic the spurs on one of the many classic car tours. If you google it a bit, you will be amazed at how many rides are organized in the Netherlands alone. We're not talking about rallies with tight special stages, where fast cars race over. No, it's about tours in a beautiful natural environment that find their way through picturesque villages and old towns through a certain part of the Netherlands. This coming weekend you can visit the Hoeksche Waard for this. A very beautiful area with plenty of provincial roads that wind their way from Oud-Beijerland through the green landscape towards the North Sea coast. Extremely suitable for touring with your old or young timer, without getting overdriven. You wouldn't expect that peace under the smoke of Rotterdam, which with its mega-large world port is characterized by hectic.

Driving cultural heritage

If you ask the KNAC (Koninklijke Nederlandsche Automobiel Club) whether the classic car and all those accompanying tours still have a future, you already know the answer in advance: “Of course! Classic cars, oldtimers and youngtimers have always been there and always will be. They are the icons of our rolling cultural heritage. One car has been more important for the development of our mobility or the phenomenon of the car than the other, but each car has had its charm and significance in its own time. We all know classics like the Porsche 356, Citroën DS, Volvo Amazon, Triumph TR6 and MG B, to choose a few at random. But also remember that, for example, the first VW Golf came on the market almost half a century ago, was produced in large numbers and is now again a sought-after car. And so there are countless 'new classics'. In the end, every car becomes a classic with a bright future.”

Tradition with passion

After the '11 Villages Rally' has started on Saturday morning, three to four classic cars drive down the red carpet every hour and a short story is told about these cars. The presentation is in the hands of Marcel Wüst van het Carel Wust Museum. The name has fallen: Wüst. An old name in the Hoeksche Waard, because of their car company. From the beginning of the twentieth century, the Wüst family has been involved in the automobile and everything related to it. For example, they were a Volkswagen dealer in the late 1942s. They have now been known for decades for their Mercedes-Benz dealership. They continued to opt for solid, German car technology. The basis for the Hoeksche Waard company was laid by WGC Wüst and has been further expanded by subsequent generations. One of the sons was Carel Wüst (1999 -2022), after whom the Carel Wüst Museum and the associated company Carel Wüst Classics are named. Both located in Oud-Beijerland since XNUMX, after the museum had been located on the top floor of the Wüst Mercedes building in Dordrecht for many years. You could say 'back to the roots', because Oud-Beijerland has traditionally been the home base of the Wüst company.

A long cherished wish

With a lot of petrol in his blood and as a third generation 'car operator', Marcel Wüst fulfilled a long-cherished wish in 2022. He started his own company in the purchase and sale of old and young timers. A segment that is experiencing great growth. The hobby atmosphere with quasi-romantic keys still exists, of course, but there is also an enormous professionalization. Nowadays there are plenty of cars on offer from the XNUMXs, XNUMXs and later, which quickly change hands. And come from countries all over the world. Marcel Wüst has made it his day job to mediate in the purchase of a classic car. In doing so, he finally fulfills his wish to 'sell all makes of historic cars'.

Beating car heart

Not such a strange choice, given the versatility of the brand palette of the Wüst company over the years. The car heart has been beating ever since Marcel Wüst moved on his tricycle between the grease bridge and the garage door of the parental garage. And later he has already appraised almost every youngtimer, when he was offered them for trade-in at their car company. The toddler from then is now an adult business owner of Carel Wüst Classics and his philosophy is: "The story behind the car, the model or the person who created it, that ensures that the whole comes to life."

Enjoy a Saturday!

That statement requires a lot of knowledge and that is exactly what the Oldtimers Hoeksche Waard Foundation needed for their position of 'Supreme Stable Master 2.0' during their old- and youngtimer show after the start of the 11 Villages Rally. That is why they chose their fellow countryman Marcel Wüst. So early next Saturday to Oud-Beijerland, for an event held by the beautiful Hoeksche Waard. Moreover, for viewing many old and young timers and for listening to their accompanying stories. Actually, a visit to the event in Oud-Beijerland next Saturday is a 'must' for every classic enthusiast!

  1. Hope to do tomorrow. Also the EMWalhalla in Raamsdonksveer.
But also a visit to Oud-Beijerland. Fortunately I live in the Hoeksche Waard.
I can confirm that it is a wonderful area, where I regularly give the MGF, the Rover 200 BRM and one of the three motorcycles a breather.

  2. Marcel Wüst is indeed pre-eminently the man who can add luster to this beautiful tour. His knowledge of automobiles is unparalleled. In any case, I wish the participants a nice day and I am convinced that this will be all right.
