Purchasing classics there
Sunday 9 October the sixth edition of the ZZF rally was held. This year the starting location was very special. The organization had chosen the Catshuis for this.

If you think that you can also have a party there or have a ride finish or start, you are wrong. An exception was made because the ZZF rally was organized for a special purpose. The proceeds of the rally were intended for the foundation Beat Batten, to fund research needed to find out more about this terrible disease. More than 90 participating cars that ranged from exclusive new to unique old had gathered that day in The Hague. Those who were present at the start could marvel at the beautiful cars. Equipe number 1 was a Porsche that was driven by JP Balkenende. Gijs van Lennep acted as navigator. After they were flagged by Prime Minister Mark Rutte, a modern Porsche followed, followed by a beautiful classic Porsche Spyder. The sound this car produced was phenomenal.

Many cars followed and it was a real pleasure to take the photos. Despite the rain that continued to fall steadily, the mood of the participants and those present was good. During lunch a fun test was held at Rotterdam The Hague Airport. The finish was at the Louwman museum in Wassenaar. There a check was handed over to the den Hertog family. They had driven the ride, with the whole family, in a Ford Fairlane with start number 53.

Gijsbert told that driving in the Fairlane not yet easy. The car was equipped with a three-speed manual gearbox with steering gear. What was not too bad was the proceeds of that day. The amount on the check exceeded all expectations. That day they managed to raise 100.992 euros.

More information about Batten's disease can be found on the website www.beatbatten.com  and information about the Rare Diseases Fund foundation can be found at www.zzf.nl  Another rally will be organized next year! Are you also driving along?
