This 53-year-old Opel B Kadett Fastback is well worth a look. Beautiful lines and clean surfaces make it an elegant car with a sporty temperament. Look at the beautiful flowing sloping line of the stern. Just a sporty car for enthusiastic people, fully and luxuriously equipped.

One of the reasons why the Opel Kadett was such a success was because of the different offer in many variants. Opel had a bestseller in its hands, in fact, it knocked Volkswagen from the first place in the sales lists.
Story full of emotion
Henny: “This Opel B Kadett Fastback has been in my Opel collection since 2019 and I found it in this beautiful condition in Bergen op Zoom. A story full of emotion, because the owner no longer saw the opportunity to drive the hobby car because his field of vision became less and therefore became irresponsible to drive. The son then placed the car on a sales site, after which contact was established. On the first visit, the son told that his father had been a mechanic in a Ford garage, and drove this Opel B Kadett Fastback as a hobby car, and had owned it for no less than 24 years! The mileage had increased by only 8 km in the last 20 years. The nice thing is that this fastback brings me back to my father who had the same version in a metallic blue color. And this again is emotion!”
Opel: More style… more class
Curious about what else is hidden behind the garage doors of steel goodies? Next to the Opel B Kadett Fastback is an Opel Diplomat (1971), the large luxury sedan from Opel and an impeccable Opel Vectra (1994) from first owner. It is clear that Henny and his son Wybe are enthusiastic about classics with a small note: They must be classic Opels. Wybe can complete the list with an Opel Rekord E.2 (1986) in Irmscher outfit and an Omega A (1993). The big car of car manufacturer Opel.
Like father Like Son
That father and son are allowed to do this together is satisfying, it gives an extra dimension to the car hobby. Going to events together, enjoying the conviviality, the solidarity and the friendships that have arisen through the hobby, could it be better?

I don't want to offend anyone, but wasn't this the mop of the road at the time?
They were not very tight with a leaf spring for old age.
But they could be tight.
The 60s, where even the low-income could buy a flashy-looking sports car and park for free in front of almost every shop door.
The 2023s.. where many middle incomes already have a problem in paying their primary necessity of life, the energy bill.
The 2050s, where almost everyone rides back with a horse and cart.
Have we really made any progress in terms of mobility?
Indeed Peter, quite an interesting thought. For the good youth (the not good one drives German premium and wears expensive watches) there is no longer even a nice, affordable youth car for sale.
I myself have a KADETT C CITY from 1979 and think the KADETT B coupé is a real beauty!
I know someone who uses such a coupé (orange) and a station wagon version of this Kadett (caravan, same color grey) as daily cars. For years.
A B2, I also have one, years younger and now 30 years + by name
