Purchasing classics there

A generation of Opel that was given a special name: Omega. A name that could be pronounced without any problem in all languages and that was important for export. It was also a model that had nothing to do with its predecessors, so new opportunities on the market. The 2,5 Opel Omega B Wagon 6 V1997 Caravan from Sybolt is a special appearance.

Rare

Sybolt: “I had no intention of buying another car, but when I saw this beautiful Opel Omega I couldn't pass up this sleek rock-hard car. As an Opel enthusiast, it was an important requirement for me to drive such a car. Most people see this youngtimer as an ordinary neat station, the reactions of the real Opel connoisseurs are very nice.”

The floodgates of enthusiasm open:

With car stories we like to look back and are always curious! Where would this beautiful 25-year-old Opel Omega B Wagon 2,5 V6 Caravan have left its tire tracks? “When I bought it, I already discovered very small details. For example, the car had printed manuals and decals in Japanese, an electronic pass holder, and every time the car was started I was greeted in Japanese.”

Licensed in Tokyo

Upon further investigation, it turned out that the car was supplied new by Yanase, the GM dealer in Tokyo. It was also striking that the car is left-hand drive, because in Japan they drive on the left side of the road. And shouldn't the steering wheel also be on the right - just like in the UK? The assumption is therefore that the generous Opel must have been someone from a foreign embassy as the first owner. (Only upper middle class cars drive there.) The Opel Omega B Wagon 2,5 V6 Caravan is now a collector's item with a special background. And of course can be used daily as a utensil, after all, that is what they are made for.

Precious BMW and Mercedes-Benz youngtimers

These top models are regularly imported from Japan to the Netherlands, and the Opel Omega B Wagon 2,5 V6 Caravan came to the Netherlands as a 'space filler'. Importing an Omega alone would not have been profitable, even if it had a very low mileage of only 40.000. It is understandable that Sybolt is grateful for the choice he made then. Maybe it's a bit about happiness... and when it comes to that, there's one thing we all agree on: You can never have enough of that!

  1. The neighbors had the sedan, as CD Diamond, as the successor to the various Senators.
That was a really big car.
The neighbors across the street drove the station.
Daily with a large trailer of a ton or 2 behind it.
High and wide, so also a lot of windage.
After about 4 years or so, the loading floor was torn during the towbar installation, and a new plate had to be installed. .. ..

  2. What a beautiful car this green one. I have driven an OMEGA station from 1994 with a 2.2 engine for over a year. Bought for 750 euros and resold for 450 euros. Had a lot of fun

  3. I've had all engines in all versions. Top cars!! Wish I had another one now. The absolute top was the MV6 with the BMW turbo diesel with automatic transmission. My goodness, what a nice ride that was!

  4. I always thought the Omega B was a beautiful model, despite the typical GM make…. and Opels as station wagons were in my eyes nicer than the sedans (I drove a few Astras as pack mule models). 90s green with that dark shade, beautiful.

  5. That is a status symbol in Japan, the steering wheel on the left instead of the right.
That is why many exclusive cars are brought here
