On the Saturday after Ascension Day, the roads in Friesland are a feast for the eyes again. Then more than 400 historic cars and approximately 200 historic motorcycles drive from city to city all day. On 7 May Fryslân will be dominated by a major event: The Elfsteden Oldtimer Rally.
The event started modestly in 1984 and has since grown into the largest one-day old-timer happening in Europe. In fact, one may speak of a moving museum, with numerous participants, who mainly come from the Western European countries. This year the Rally will be held for the 30e time.
Feast for the eye
Lovers of vintage cars can indulge themselves. As a participant in the Elfsteden Oldtimer Rally or as a spectator. A long ribbon of the most diverse and often rare old-timers passes by. Only vehicles up to and including 1949 can participate. Most of it dates from the 1920s - 1930s. Along the route or in one of the “Friesche Eleven Cities”, visitors can enjoy beautiful Fords, Cadillacs, Austins, BSAs, Moto Guzzis, and more. Start and finish
In contrast to the Elfstedentocht on ice skating, the start and finish will not take place in Leeuwarden, but at camping 't Hop in Wijckel, in the beautiful Gaasterland. The start is on Saturday morning from 07.00 hour and the finish is between 15.30 hour and 19.00 hour.
