Purchasing classics there

During the past weekend - on April 1 - the time had come. The first Over de Heg Tour was held. AMK photographer Bart Spijker had been asked by Local Interest Oosterstreek to organize the ride, in the context of the Over de Heg Festival in Oosterstreek. There was a lot of enthusiasm for the ride, which led through the beautiful South-East of Friesland, a small piece of Steenwijkerland and a beautiful part of Drenthe.

In the run-up to the ride, a striking number of reporters were concerned Auto Motor Klassiek reported. This created a feast of recognition in advance, which, however, literally threatened to fall into the water. April 1 is often the day of jokes and pranks, but the rainy conditions showed little sense of humor. They were deadly serious. That didn't stop most participants from just coming to the starting point of the Festival grounds in Oosterstreek. This created a wonderful mix of classics, some young timers, and a few modern cars. These were brought together by their owners, who all ensured a nice reunion and also managed to find each other. connecting classics, Auto Motor Klassiek connects. That was again very good to see and to experience.

We ourselves would - also because of the photography - drive the route in the opposite direction. Initially, Gerard Kramer had a beautiful Peugeot 404 ready for us. Nevertheless, we decided together early in the morning to spare the Peugeot. The alternative was not sickening. The photography car of Bart Spijker and the undersigned became the experienced Land Rover Discovery Td5 from 2001. And that was certainly no punishment. The Land Rover is not made for a small one and also suited the weather conditions better. The Disco - good for five tons on the clock and often pulling the most diverse classics from all corners of the world - was an extremely impressive companion.

From the bulky Brit we were treated to beautiful regional panoramas, which the beautiful landscape offered despite the gloomy weather conditions along the way. And this idyll was filled with often beautiful classics of completely different plumage, which together formed a beautiful historical whole. This sun rays in the rain were guided smoothly through the beautiful surroundings (with places such as Dwingeloo and Lhee) thanks to the teams and an excellent route book. The old and younger heritage blended beautifully with the varied and historic landscape. This is how the history came together nicely, and 35 teams rendered the versatility of the automotive past a wonderful service. Regardless of age, regardless of rank, regardless of position, regardless of origin.

Matters were well arranged by Bart (and the rest of the organization of the festival). Because before the first tour kilometer had been covered, everyone could enjoy an excellent Dutch lunch, including frikadel, croquette and soup. And those who wanted to have a bite to eat after the ride could count on a really good meal for a very modest price. Everyone was satisfied, the day went really smoothly.

Smaller events and tours are perhaps the nicest parts of the now really expanded classic scene. All participating teams can in any case confirm that the Over de Heg Tour was a success. Not only in terms of composition, but also because the event offered the opportunity for great encounters, a reunion of acquaintances and a shared classic passion with a personal touch. That's a feature of many events, but on April 1, those elements came together really nicely.

The first Over de Heg Tour was an event that provided sunshine during a drizzly day. Also because the feast of recognition was completely devoid of any form of disdain and finery. That is precisely why the pure character of a beautiful and excellently organized trip came to the fore in a beautiful way. And that makes real enthusiasts very happy.

With thanks to Bart and Els Spijker, all participants and the organizers of the Over de Heg Festival in Oosterstreek

  1. We enjoyed the beautiful ride through the beautiful surroundings of Drenthe and Friesland.
The trip was super organized and the variety of old-timers and young-timers resulted in a colorful procession of participants.
The catering in the party tent was also perfectly arranged.
We would also like to thank the volunteers who made this all possible.
    With regards
    Folkert, Corrie, Ton and Henny

  2. Would have loved to be there, but other 'obligations' took precedence.
It seems like a nice route to me, is it possible to get it?
