Purchasing classics there

Jaap is a man who is devoted to the Renault brand, has a great deal of knowledge of the history of the French brand and, thanks to his work as a car mechanic, he used to have many technical skills. His collection of Renaults therefore has more sentimental value than monetary value, we try to describe the experience of his pearl white Renault Alpine GTA V6 Turbo from 1987.

Renault Alpine

The car is feminine in French: La voiture en une automobile. According to Jaap, no research is needed when it comes to the shared interest in the car hobby. The contacts with other enthusiasts increase the chance that friendships will arise and it can even be a small increase in joie de vivre. For example, he has intensive and pleasant contact with a Renault collector, which is an incentive for both. (Car madness in the healthy sense?) That's what a car hobby does!

Switzerland

The tires of the Renault Alpine GTA V6 Turbo left their mark in Switzerland before it came to the Netherlands. The previous owner gave the car too little maintenance, resulting in high costs, so that it was finally sold. Coincidence does not exist, because in the year of purchase of this Renault Alpine GTA V6 Turbo, a factory visit was already planned in Dieppe (France), which increased the enthusiasm of owning it even more. At Jaap, the youngtimer received a health check, technically things were improved, the cooling was adjusted and a small paint damage was repainted. The first ride, the Middenland tour of the Alpine club, was with his daughter. But after two years the car came to a standstill and was promoted to a keeper…

What does Renault itself say about the Alpine?

When you see this Alpine you feel different emotions:

  • Amazement at the terrifying speed. (Still, the temperament is obedient to the accelerator.)
  • Sharp squeal from the six-cylinder (A ride in the Alpine changes you.)

Own interpretation

Everyone has their own interpretation of the hobby. We know mechanics, drivers, cleaners and people who cherish the car as a possession. The possession and history of the Renault Alpine GTA V6 Turbo evoke certain nostalgic feelings in Jaap. Enjoying the memory. It actually remains 'tangible' love that you should cherish. Keeping the past tense alive is also an enrichment.

  1. Simply beautiful stuff, both the blue A110 and the GTA. And much nicer than a Porsche, for example, but there is also a lot, and especially more original design. So in both. And no facelifts from 911s from 70 years ago. Although the 1st type, with the round rear lights, is very nice. (Pity about the plastic fakes ;))

  2. Beautiful car and the one behind it even more, although I won't fit in it, but I enjoy the many rally videos out there. I myself have only been driving a Renault for 52 years and I have a fairly extensive collection of brochures and models, of which the Alpine models really stand out. In the 90s, Renault would merge with Volvo, from that time I still have a Catback from '54, which will have to disappear with time for a Renault oldtimer….. Have fun with the Alpines!

  3. Beautiful Alpine and indeed a four-seater if you are not too big. Is this another catless PRV? They had a bit more power (200 instead of 185 peekaas) and also more torque. Also strange that the early GT without turbo still had carburetors instead of injection and therefore also a bit more power (160 peekaas).

  4. What a nice article, I don't know Jaap at all, but we should according to what I read here
can be good friends. I assume that (almost) every owner has something special
with the car in which she or he drives. When I get into my CX, and hear the clatter of the diesel
in the forecastle, I know and feel it's going to be another great one. The cassette
player crushed a tape yesterday. I never knew there was so much tape in such a small box
    cartridge.
Greetings to Jaap, beautiful Alpines and yes, I know the "feeling"

  5. An acquaintance had one more than 20 years ago (not sure if that was the Turbo).
Refurbished and shortly afterwards almost written off against a cheek rail in D.
Then he was refurbished again, made with the help of a donor of 2 1.
    Beautiful cars to see.
    PRV engine, right?

  6. Beautiful cars those Alpines. All. Renaults too, by the way.
Nice that Jaap takes good care of his cars, they certainly deserve that.
The monetary value is also increasing more and more with Alpine/Renault, you no longer have such an A110 for the price of a mid-sized car and a good GTA (such as the white car here) also easily exceeds 25 euros.
Very nice cars by the way and the nice thing is that you can sit in it with a little flexibility.
