Also the 22e edition of Retro Classics will be packed with classics from all classes, special themed shows, club presentations and motorsport. Stuttgart is of course the home city of Porsche, among others. And in a calendar year in which the sports car brand celebrates two anniversaries, the organization of Retro Classics simply cannot ignore the manufacturer from Zuffenhausen. What is called. The Porsche 911 takes center stage during one of the special shows. The icon of many celebrates its sixtieth birthday this year. The Porsche 911, which made its 901 appearance at the IAA in Frankfurt in September 1963, became a coveted concept in the world of fast six-cylinder coupés. During Retro Classics, the organization will reflect extensively on the birthday of the original 911.
75 year Porsche
In addition to the 60e anniversary of the Porsche 911, the manufacturer from Zuffenhausen is celebrating another anniversary. The Porsche 1948 made its debut in 356, marking the first step towards the status the brand enjoys today. Porsche is, of course, also standing around the corner at that milestone in history. And does so under the name 75 Jahre Porsche Sportwagen, in which the competition history is also central.
“Bayern aus Berlin” and American classics
The organization raises even more special themes. How about the fact that it is a hundred years ago that BMW started the production of its two-wheelers. The R32 kicked off in 1923, and BMW Motorrad grew into a major concept in two-wheeler land. BMW is therefore unpacking in Stuttgart with a beautiful motorcycle show, which listens to the name “Bayern aus Berlin”. Furthermore, for example, the theme The American Way of Drive was announced, and you can guess what that is about. Correct. Because Flossen, Chrome and Musclecars is a special exhibition featuring illustrious American cars from the heyday of American car manufacturing.
Even more highlights
And there are many more special highlights. Come on, we'll mention another selection of them. Another special theme will be presented at the Technik Museum Sinsheim Speyer stand, including the “Brutus” Rennwagen with a 47 liter (!) V12 engine. Furthermore, it is impossible to ignore the world of Mercedes-Benz in Stuttgart, and some special exhibitions are also dedicated to that. Peugeot enthusiasts can enjoy a multiple theme, including the fortieth anniversary of the 205 (with one of the two hundred 205 T16 units), the ninetieth anniversary of the 40X model series and '85 years of the Peugeot 202'. This and more should definitely appeal to Peugeot enthusiasts.
More than twenty themes and much more
In total, the organization announced more than twenty themes, and of course the largest classic car fair in the world has much more to offer. Classic mopeds, automobilia, everyday and exclusive classic cars and motorcycles, and many stands with classic-related items are all part of a beautiful program. And that pays off the pleasant effort to travel to the Retro Messe in Stuttgart.
