We start this article with Fiat, do you remember what Fiat made a strong case for? It started with the Topolino, which has always remained popular, then the Fiat 600 came on the market and the much-discussed Fiat 500 as a replacement for the Topolino. The Fiat 850 became a great success in Europe. In Spain, the various success numbers in the small car world were built under license by Seat. The skilled instructors made their own creations based on the existing models, such as the Fiat 600 4 doors and the Fiat 850/127 4 doors, thus meeting the wishes of the public. The manufacturers extended the bottom plate by 15 cm, and the small 850 became a success in the home country of Spain. (The E on the Seat stands for Espagne)
Fiat 850 Special Lujo
The chance is very small that you will encounter this Spaniard on the road, because it was never officially imported, so few have been registered. This Seat 850 is a real go-getter, because as a 50-year-old he is facing a new future with a true Fiat enthusiast. Lujo on the type plate stands for: Luxury, splendor and opulence, and that says enough.
Pleasant experiences
Jakob: “For years I have been a big fan of Fiat and already drove some toppers such as a Fiat 500 Giardiniera with the doors wrong, and later a Fiat 127, also a top seller in days gone by. The pleasant experiences of that time come all the way back with my Seat 850, which I will now first make technically sound after purchase. Unfortunately, not much is known about the history, the seller indicated that the car has probably been in storage for about ten years. The first impressions of my rare Seat 850 4-door are very positive. It is a nice steering car, special and fun.”
Nostalgia reigns supreme
Fortunately, there are many old-timers / classics under the care of enthusiasts and collectors. In this way they give shape to their car love. History remains alive… and moving. Every month you can read stories of thoroughbred enthusiasts cleaning or tinkering, poaching for parts and enjoying every ride of the old-timer/classic on 2 or 4 wheels. All you need to enjoy is one subscription, which is easy to arrange online.

Not visible in the photos, but the “Seat 850 Especial Lujo” (luxury) version was also really luxurious, with the dashboard of the coupe, bucket seats and carpet on the floor.
What a nice childhood memory. To cherish!
I have been driving and driving a Fiat continuously for 38 years and I remember that we had an 850 special that was noticeably faster than the previous 850.
If this is allowed, who can show me the way here, a nice healthy 125 special in Vanden or 130 berline
I think those doors and the C-pillar look a bit like the 124. Nice car!
Very special those four doors. Do put 20 kg of sand in the front for a better distribution of the pressure on the wheels; this saves 'butt whippers'. Good luck with the project!
Sympathetic endearing car as an alternative if the 600 would be just a little too small.
