Purchasing classics there

Every now and then we grab a nice scale model in our daily news items. We decided to take another look at the range of specialized miniature manufacturers. This time we put the spotlight on a beloved French lucky guy: the eighteen times reduced Simca 1100 TI, which was released by Ottomobile in 2018.

The Maja yellow color scheme radiates towards you, and evokes a desire to embrace spring definitively. And if you stay indoors due to certain weather conditions, a look at the display cabinet is enough to keep the mood going. Especially if Ottomobile's Simca 1100 TI has been given a nice spot there. It evokes even more: the desire to send a nice game with the 1100 TI and put the 1294 cc engine with two double carburettors and more than 80 hp to work. This French family car pur sang changed with the TI badge into a very fast and potent hatchback.

The connoisseurs of the Simca 1100 see it immediately. This scale model, released by Ottomobile in 2018, has the external specifications that Simca applied to the 1975 from model year 1100. The large rear light units and recessed door handles are a few references. And if you take a look at the inside of the scale model, you can carefully see the new layout of the dashboard.

A lot is right about this scale model. Proportions are fine across the board, the tailgate bears the large rear window introduced a few years before the 1974 model change, the spotlights and wide beams are correctly fitted, although the lighting under the bumper does appear to be somewhat large failed The exhaust pipe is also generously sized. But things like the front and rear spoiler are right again - just like the steering wheel. This also applies to the beautiful Dunlop footwear, the correct trim parts, the sun protection foil at the top of the windscreen and the badges. Those details are really beautifully in place, as are the markings that tell that the Simca 1100 TI three-door was also equipped with adjustable side windows.

If you look closely, you can also see the exposed sheet metal parts within the interior, which is also fine, as well as the specific upholstery of the furniture. Which is also correct: there is one wing mirror, the TI was not equipped with a second one as standard. And what really gets under the skin: the Chrysler Simca sticker that adorns the bottom center of the rear window. And so there are even more beautiful and correct details. This model is good in many respects.

For example, the image of a truly beautiful scale model made of Resin, which is probably already included in the collection of many Simca fans, will stick with you. An 18 times reduced version of the original, which immediately explains why the 1100 TI managed to collect a considerable number of enthusiasts. Moreover: it is not for nothing that Ottomobile - just like NOREV - released several variants of the 1100 TI in a reduced form. Especially the five-door version predominated.

If you want to add this beautiful three-door miniature version to the collection, you have to look hard. Or just lucky. The manufacturer has built the 1100 TI in this trim 999 times. Anyone who finds a copy on the shelf or online is a bargain, because you really hardly find this version. Therefore, count on a purchase price of well over €100. If you can already find this beautiful Maja yellow Simca 1100 TI from Ottomobile.

  1. My parents raced two 1100s. A real 1100 (1969) and an 1100S (1976).
The latter had the identical engine as the TI, but with one double (licence) Weber carburettor.
Because the thing couldn't be gotten from hiccups at 50 in four with gas on it, father mounted a Stromberg VV carburettor from a Sunbeam 1500. A true piece of art. After all the years I still kept that set. The Simca ran much smoother with that carburetor. And the car itself was fantastic. Comfort, a good high beam through the Cibié spotlights and with that Stromberg 150CDS a smooth power source that did its job more economically than with that Weber. Tectyl kept the rust devil at bay for quite a long time from new. Retightening the head bolts has prevented him from falling into bad habits with leaking head gaskets. Have fond memories of that car

  2. Beautiful car and ... This one stays good! Had one in real life (unfortunately no TI) but there are extra decorative trims growing on thresholds and front fenders just like that.
After a rain shower you could wash your hands in the compartment left under the steering wheel…
It was a nice driving but “adventurous” car!

  3. Great beautiful color scheme and three-door too
The quality sometimes left something to be desired though
Besides the enthusiasts, there was something else that loved the 1100TI
    The well-known RUST DEVIL 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
