Purchasing classics there

The feeling of happiness can start with passion! At least that was the breeding ground for Rudi Arends, because after owning his first Singer he felt more and more passion to give Singer a permanent place in his hobby life.

By: Dirk de Jong

In addition to this very special self-build Singer, Rudi makes an important contribution to the file of the Dutch Singer Owners Club. He owns several Singers, including a Singer 4 AB Roadster from 1951, a Singer 1,5 Liter Fourseater Tourer six-cylinder from 1933. A Singer motorcycle from 1912. A unique Singer Commodore boat from 1935. And a Singer Monarch Tractor from 1953.

Each of these vehicles in the overview photo has its own story. In this article we think it would be fun to highlight the home-built Singer. It is pure creativity of Rudi to build his own pickup with the aim that he can show a combination of the Singer pickup with the unique Singer motorcycle from 1912.

British tradition

There is no country in the world where so many sports cars have been built as in England. Because of his special collection, Rudi feels connected to the automotive history and wants to maintain this image of the time by regularly driving in the area. But also to go to England regularly to meet friends who love the classic English sports cars.

Enthusiasm

Rudi is an inspired man who really appreciates the characteristic sports cars and which still exert a great attraction on him every day. His stories and enthusiasm will draw you in!

Contribution to well-being

It is better to let Rudi speak for himself: “My emphasis is on getting and keeping the Singers in my collection in a running condition. I am a 'pure' driver and I want to keep the oldtimers visible on the road. I am not a fan of static shows and really only make an exception for the annual event in the Flowerdome and the meetings in England and France. I changed the design of the Singer to make it a pickup. I rebuilt the wreckage of a stranded project from scratch and brought it back to life. Because of this construction it is now a unique driving experience for me. The quirky appearance attracts a lot of attention, and that is also a nice 'bonus' of old-timer ownership.”

Classic beauties

A warehouse full of classic beauties, all Singers – unique in the Netherlands – who all have character. It is a story of a creative and striking personality.

We are always delighted when we get a chance to take a look at enthusiastic enthusiasts. They should never disappear from the spotlight, which is why the contribution of Rudi Arends is so important.
