The Louwman Museum received a record number of visitors last year. In 2017 no less than 159.312 visitors visited the automobile museum. Since the opening of the Louwman Museum in 2010, it is already the seventh year in a row that the museum has welcomed more visitors.
According to the management, the high number of visitors in 2017 is partly due to the 'McLaren' exhibition in the summer months. The exhibition showed sixteen racing cars and high-performance sports scars including the McLaren's of Formula 1 champions Ayrton Senna, Mika Häkkinen and Lewis Hamilton, the McLaren of Can-Am champion Peter Revson and a McLaren Le Mans.
More foreign visitors have also visited the Louwman Museum. This is partly due to the various important international prizes that the museum received in 2017. For example, the Aston Martin DB5 of James Bond (1964) at the Concours d'Elegance of Zoute (B) was voted Best of Show and the Pegaso Z-102 Berlinetta Cupula (1953) was voted Best of Show at the Competition Amelia Island d 'Legance (USA).
