Good news for the owners of a Rover P6, one has been sold in Great Britain for £ 20.674,00 plus commission. Bad news, yours is not going to pay off, because in this case we are talking about one of the sixteen prototypes, even the only and last remaining. We already reported this a few months ago in the paper version of AMK, but we found it special enough to also mention it on www.amklassiek.nl.
A full restoration has taken place in the previous nine years that has cost over £ 65.000,00. It shows again, restoring and then (having to) sell the object does not make a difference. Robber lovers know that it is about the Rover Talago, as the P6 would actually be called. Year 1962 and equipped with a Buick V8 engine that was converted and adjusted at Rover at the time. Therefore an absolutely unique car, which with a bit of luck will increase in price considerably in the coming years ...
The name Talago is a combination from the initials of Ted L. Gawronski, project leader of the P6. The name was conceived to keep the car out of the picture for the press during development.
