Another week and a half. Then the start of the German classic season takes place. You know it by now. The Bremen Classic Motor Show at the Bremen fair always guarantees that ideal mix consisting of a pleasant German atmosphere, fixed themes and surprising topics. For this year's edition, the organization once again opted for a few wonderful main themes: Lancia and the small two-wheeler class (up to 50 cc) will shine. That's for sure.
Leistung, Luxus, Leidenschaf. This is how the Bremen organization characterizes the central car theme in the Hanseatic city in Northern Germany. And within that theme, twelve beautiful examples of Lancia are central. And they cover various periods from the last century.
In Hall 5 you can see Lancia designs from the 1974s to the 1994s, which were technically far ahead of their time, as well as the models that achieved numerous motorsport victories between XNUMX and XNUMX: a wonderful selection from the Italian brand. expect rarely seen!
The Lambda and Astura models represent the two decades before World War II. Especially with the Lambda, introduced in 1923, you can see why Lancia was also called the 'engineer's brand'. Equipped with independent front suspension and hydraulic shock absorbers, the Lambda was the first vehicle with a self-supporting body.
The Aurelia (from 1950) and the Flaminia (from 1957) were equipped with many technical innovations and were named by their creators after historical courses and roads. The Italian noble cars had such an appeal that celebrities of the time liked to associate with the Italian beauties of that time.
There is more. Because the organization also produces the wedge-shaped Stratos and the 037 street version. With the rally versions Stratos HF and the revised Rally 037 model, the Lancias were very successful in the brand's world championship. Walter Röhrl described the model 037 as his favorite vehicle. The Lancia Delta Integrale, which can also be admired in Bremen, is still considered the most successful rally car of all time. There was no limit to the Delta Integrale, which, together with various rally pilots, gave the Turin manufacturer the rally world title six times in a row. And that record is still unparalleled.
On the occasion of the main theme, Enrico Fumia will be a guest at the Bremen Classic Motorshow 3 on Saturday, February 2024, at the invitation of the Lancia Club Deutschland eV. At its stand in Hall 4 (4C30), the Lancia Club will present the Kappa Coupé designed by Fumia, which is exhibited together with Lancia Flaminia Pininfarina Coupé. People are excited that the designer will be giving interviews and information on site alongside one of his creations. The automotive and industrial designer, born in Turin in 1948, designed many car bodies, including for Pininfarina and the Fiat group.

I have been to Bremen several times and it is actually on my 'to do' list every year. Always 'gemütlich' and something for everyone. This year I cannot miss, of course, as a Lancia Fulvia owner and lover of Lancia in general. I have never been to the fair in Bremen. I did go to the techno classica fair in Essen. Because that is closer to me.
I see similarities in the announcement. Hence: I found the Essen fair disappointing (in my opinion). In other words: visit once and then I knew enough. Because:
– Essen was very busy and commercial (many new cars from German manufacturers on the stages, also RR and Bentley).
– So big that you actually don't really see anything and have no active memory of it.
– There was a very large share of classic main theme cars that you were not allowed to go near (as is also the case at the Retromobile Paris in my experience).
– There turned out to be a parts market in Essen that would put the first vide grenier to shame.
My question: Is Bremen different from Essen? Before I travel all the way to Bremen, I would like to see your images. Too late? No problem because then your answer will be appreciated before 2025.
This year I'm going to Bremen for the first time with my buddy Gossen. Bockhorn is our favorite classic car market, also because of its wonderful Bratwürste.
