Special attraction at the Classic Show in Leek

The 1949 Ford Prefect, a striking appearance during the last Classic Show in Leek, attracted a lot of attention. This vehicle, with its nostalgic charm, seduced the audience into a physical interaction: a gentle touch, a tap on the fenders. An unexpected, but pleasant experience for the owners, Foeke and Wendy, who had been considering expanding their collection in addition to their 1979 VW Beetle Cabrio for a long time. When the Ford Prefect crossed their path, fate was sealed and it was "Sold" - The sign quickly became a reality.

The white Brit: comfort and performance

The Ford Prefect, affectionately called the 'White Brit', is characterized by its comfortable interior, spacious four-door construction and surprisingly spacious luggage space. Despite its age, this classic offers remarkable performance and remains economical in use, an ideal combination for hobby drivers like Foeke and Wendy. Purchasing this Ford is more than a hobby; it is a tribute to the post-war contribution of Ford Netherlands to the local economy, through the assembly of models such as the Ford Anglia and this Ford Prefect.

The appealing Ford slogan

Ford's historic slogan, found in the car's workshop manual, still resonates with Foeke and Wendy: “The Prefect attracts the interest of everyone, both for business and for pleasure.” These words capture the essence of their experience: it attracts attention, provides pleasure, and strengthens their shared hobby and love for classic cars.

Pest control and pet love

In daily life, Foeke is involved in major cleaning jobs and pest control. But in his private life he harbors another 'pest': their new acquisition, the Ford Prefect. This classic, found in Leek, has not only won a place in their hearts, but has also become a symbol of pride and enthusiasm.

  1. The SG-94-19 was my parents' first family car. My father bought it in 1961 for 100 guilders. Because he worked at Ford AIR at the time, he had turned it into a nice, neat car within a few years. We liked him as children. The windshield could be opened and you sat better in it than a Beetle. A major disadvantage, the car had no heater. The arrival of my youngest brother forced my parents to look for another car and the Prefect was sold in 1968. The car was in top condition and that is probably the reason that this Prefect is still driving around.

  2. I can still remember very well that as a little boy of about 6 years old, in the early 50s, I am now 77, with a neighbor across the street in our village of Sellingen, far away in East Groningen, occasionally a short distance away. was allowed to drive. There were at most 5-10 cars in Sellingen at the time. Later my parents got a Duck. I believe 12 hp, with those suicide doors. The AK 61-13, I believe??? Much later I was able to buy a Duck myself. Already with a modern hood. Once, due to a strong gust of wind, caused by a truck that passed me... my car roof was completely blown away. So suddenly I had an unintentional real Convertible. “Those were the days”.

  3. It was my father's first car, I still have a photo somewhere of me, as a little toddler, proudly posing with my mother and sister in front of our Ford Prefect.
I am now 72 years old, I have a Renault 4 myself, but I still look at this beautiful car with love and would like to "exchange" it. Amazing, rare and most of all cherish this possession!

  4. A really nice English car. An uncle of mine was one of the first in my family with a car. Because of him I ended up in the car industry from the age of 15 until retirement. I held all positions from apprentice mechanic to manager of 3 major brands until I myself went to work
