Purchasing classics there

Ottomobile has been a name in the world of car miniatures for years. They understand the art of bringing back the atmosphere of the past. Or rather: in the house. A good example of the art of downsizing classics is the Renault 10. Ottomobile has been supplying this model in 1:18 scale for some time now.

The Renault 10 Major replaced the R8 Major in the mid-10s. The similarity between the two models was striking, but the 16 certainly had its own face. In the year that the French manufacturer also introduced the progressive and ultra-modern R8, it became a conventional brother who had to win over the more conservative buyer for Renault within the smaller middle class, and for whom an R10 was a bit too small. But no matter how conventional: Renault, for example, did equip the 1965 Major with disc brakes all around. That was not yet common practice in XNUMX.

Renault further developed the car, which resulted, for example, in an R10 with a modified front. And later Renault replaced the 1108 cc engine with the engine that would appear in the successor R12: the 1289 cc engine. The R10 was retired before the dawn of 1972.

The car was popular, and many Renault agencies also managed to sell enough of them in the Netherlands and Belgium. As a result, he was regularly seen on the streets. And today it still brings back enough memories to bring back the good old days.

For Ottomobile, the popularity of the Renault 10 was a reason to reduce the car's size by eighteen times. The manufacturer succeeded very well in this. It is remarkable that this model manufacturer calls its product 'Renault 10 Major', because the latter designation disappeared with the 1967 modifications.

The scale model is built based on that 'mold'. You can see it, for example, at the front with the modified headlights, in the straight decorative strip on the flank, and in the rosettes on the bumpers. In fact, this Major is not a Major, but a Renault 10. Yes, these are details that do not prevent Ottomobile from creating a great model. The car has been faithfully recreated in the correct proportions. The decorative details are correct, and if you look closely at the color scheme of the interior you will see that a lot of attention has been paid to it. Also nice: the type designation on the front fenders.

Yes, the classic Renault enthusiast will be happy to add this R10 to the collection. The recommended retail price used by Ottomobile is €69,90. You get a scale model for your home that is absolutely worth it and evokes the feeling of the time when the car was still new in the Renault shop window.
