The story about the Ducati 860 recently in that AutoMotorKlassiek There were more responses than we thought 860s were left.
The world-famous Ducati dragster rider Herman Jolink has such a king-axle V-or let it be an 'L'-twin who has dug far over the barrel throughout Europe and AMK reader Ernst Priem also sent a place for his Duc. an engine where the block was also 'done' by Jolink, a photo with an email attached to it:
Dear Editor,
Following the article about the 860GTS here my reaction. I have owned this 860 for 34 years and have tried to keep it more or less original. The first owner had already painted the beautiful blue and silver gray black. I bought it in 1981 and then 2 year on license plate for 2400 guilder. This 25 year was my only motorcycle and I have been on holiday every year with it. Many in England and Alps, Vosges, Eifel etc. The Silencium exhausts replaced by imitation conti's from Den Biggelaar. The rims by aluminum Akronts and after years the ignition by a Lucas Rita. A big-end revision was soon needed, performed by Herman Jolink, the Ducati drag racer. Then 100.000 km without problems and the block is still running nicely. I mount the Speed-7 shell for the holidays. In recent years I have mainly used the Duc for church tours and classic events. The sound is still fantastic as are the blows and flames from the exhaust.
Greetings, Ernst Priem
