Moving from Soestdijk to Mariënwaerdt

The well-known Wheels event, including the Concours d'Elegance, is saying goodbye to Soestdijk Palace after three successful editions. This move to Mariënwaerdt Estate in Beesd stems from the search for more expansion opportunities and a fresh start after some challenges in Baarn. The relocation offers opportunities to further grow the event and enrich it with new elements.

Background of the move

The decision to move was partly prompted by logistical challenges and local objections in Soestdijk. Despite the historical connection with the palace and the great annual interest, permit issues and objections from local residents caused complications. This led to the search for a new location where the event could develop more freely.

Future vision of the Mariënwaerdt Estate

With the new location on the Mariënwaerdt Estate, the event takes on a new dimension. The theme “Where history meets the future” forms the basis for an extensive program in 2024, including:

  • International Concours d'Elegance Marienwaërdt
  • Pre-War Sprint
  • Automotive Excellence and Innovation Lab
  • Classic Car & Youngtimer Sales
  • And many other attractions

New date and improved accessibility

The event will take place from September 13 to 15, 2024, a period that marks the transition to Indian Summer. The central location of Mariënwaerdt offers easy access and ample parking, which contributes to accessibility for a wide audience.

Warm welcome and ambitious plans

Nathalie Barones van Verschuer from Landgoed Mariënwaerdt enthusiastically welcomes the event, emphasizing how the past and present merge at this location. The organization sees this move as an important step in the development of the event, often referred to as the “Goodwood of the Low Countries”.

The move of the Wheels event to Landgoed Mariënwaerdt marks a new chapter full of promise and potential. It promises to be an immersive experience, where classic car enthusiasts and modern car lovers meet and celebrate the future of the automobile together. Let's hope that people in the area can appreciate the competition here.
