Purchasing classics there

General Audi Club Netherlands board member Roelf de Haan transferred the chairman's hammer in Lemmer last Sunday after 25 years. The Audi adept said goodbye to his post during the annual meeting and meeting at Beach Club Lemmer and was put in the spotlight by the present members and fellow board members during a sympathetic meeting that 0nder Willem Willemer was perfectly organized by others.

In daily life, the divorcing chairman is the owner of EPS Uitlaat, a company that specializes in, among other things, stainless steel exhausts for vintage cars. He was appropriately thanked in Lemmer for his loyalty and efforts. For example, the members put together a club magazine dedicated to him. He was also introduced symbolically. The organization had arranged a car transporter, on which De Haan could drive his beautiful four-door Audi 60. The combination was then driven away from the event grounds without the departing chairman behind the wheel of his classic. The attendees underwent - just like De Haan, who by the way remains a member of the association - the scene with a smile.

True enthusiasts of AACN
During the previous meeting, there were also concerns about the developments within the AACN. There is a declining number of members. “We actually have no explanation for that. People are dropping out, no longer paying their contribution and disappearing without a trace as a member of our beautiful club. "The board furthermore stated that" there is no noticeable connection with the effects of the old-timer scheme and crisis factors. " experience. However, the real fans are the strong holders. And fortunately the number of members is still considerable.

Highlights
The AACN has enough support among lovers of the brand with the four rings and the historical predecessors and / or sister brands. Club members from near and far had taken the trouble to drive to Lemmer despite the disappointing weather. There they witnessed an anthology of highlights from Roelf de Haan's 25 year-long presidency, which has been affiliated with the AACN from 1 in January 1986. De Haan mentioned a few highlights. “Tightening the tires with Audi importer Pon was awarded in 2001. During the anniversary celebration in that year on the grounds of the importer, Pon and the AACN merged. We had the freedom to look into each other's kitchens over and over again. The family ties were not only tightened there, but also perpetuated. ”Also a visit to Zwickau - with the theme of a search for the Horch roots of Audi- was explicitly mentioned. "Augustin Horch watched as it were. It was as if he wanted to show us his legacy posthumously. "

Trots
Proud of the brand. Proud of the club. Proud of history. De Haan radiated it emphatically on his farewell from the presidency. Rightly so. The meeting in Lemmer brought with it some wonderful derivatives from the history of Audi. The visitors witnessed the presence of some classic car highlights from Germany. In all its glory were a sublime Auto Union 1000 Sp with two-stroke power source, an Audi Super 90, a stunning Audi 80 GL from 1976, versions of the Audi 100 and 200 and a few beautiful Coupés from the eighties. The whole was surrounded by other models from various Audi generations. Old and new. And of course the Audi 60 of the outgoing chairman was in the spotlights.

Conditions for close bond
Roelf de Haan can be proud. Not only the old-timer population within "his" association gives cause for this. The passion and, without exception, sympathetic Audi owners are just as important ingredients. Conditions, moreover, that form a good basis for a close bond. And with that the right to exist of the AACN, which under the leadership of the new (interim) chairman Egid Pickaers will give sufficient reason to continue to function as an epic center of pure Audi enthusiasts.
