In 2008, Ernst Cramer had the unfortunate idea of submitting an amendment, whereby the exemption motor vehicle tax was 'frozen' as of December 31, 12 and the age for cars that could be added over the value in the market was raised to 2011 year. The amendment was even passed by the Senate and the House of Representatives. An extremely successful lobby by Wouter van Embden partly reversed this legislation. Van Embden prevented the latter, but could not prevent cars registered after 25-1-1 from never being tax-free again. We may (must) therefore still add our 1987-year-old business car to the value in the market, only now at a rate of 35%. This arrangement will no longer be changed, making it still extremely attractive to drive a young timer or classic for business purposes. We can refer all Indian stories to the realm of fables.
