Purchasing classics there

A story about a DAF 33 in fantastic condition, a beauty of unprecedented class. Forewarning: It will be an enthusiastic and positive story. This classic car is so beautiful that you will immediately fall in love! A look back in time does wonders for your mood, a happy mood is guaranteed on every ride. The brainchildren of the Van Doorne Brothers live on in this DAF 33.

Auke: “The van Doorne's were original thinkers, you have to appreciate great minds, criticism in the early years was unjustified, fortunately the image is now very strong. I think back to their pioneering years with admiration. DAF produced a number of remarkable cars, the unique character and idiosyncratic technology (variomatic) justifies an honorable place in automotive history.”

1974-2024

The DAF 33 was purchased 50 years ago as a utility car, which later developed into a hobby car that can no longer be missed. By coincidence, almost 30 years ago, Auke voluntarily allowed himself to be infected with the DAF virus. He visited a colleague from car transport where he saw a beautiful DAF 33 shining in the garage. The car had been bought on a whim and Auke indicated to the colleague that he wanted to subject himself to the pleasures of DAF ownership. The negotiations about the car went smoothly and it ended up in the hands of Auke, which he was very pleased with.

Escape

With the new property, Auke was able to escape the fast-paced 24-hour society. Driving along vast farmlands and winding back roads, together with his wife, is a relief from the hectic highway life. Auke: “It doesn't take courage to set off with the DAF 33. I am treated kindly and with the necessary respect by fellow road users, in fact, I sometimes have the feeling that they always want to let me go first.”

Feelings that surface

Auke admits that nostalgia, passion, emotion and happiness are the feelings that come to mind when he drives his bright yellow DAF 33. According to him, you don't just have this car for yourself; everyone who sees it enjoys it. He emphasizes that vintage cars must be well cared for. Every year, after the winter period, the brakes are carefully checked, and both major and minor services are essential to keep the DAF reliably on the road. For Auke it is very important that not a single vintage car is lost, as a tribute to the pioneers of DAF. He calls on people to look forward to these classics; after all, they are indispensable.

DAF club

Is knowledge of the old technology disappearing? Fortunately, there are still many enthusiasts - even among the younger generation - who specialize in preserving our driving heritage. The DAF club is a reliable source for technical information and the supply of parts. Do your memories also come bubbling from your memory when you see these beautiful photos? Isn't it as if it rolled off the production line yesterday? You understand from the positive story, Auke's smile no longer leaves his face. This DAF 33 will never change owners again, it will remain in the family and will soon be passed on from father to son. It remains an intoxicating enthusiasm!

  1. I had one. After a year there were a lot of vibrations throughout the car at 60+. A self-proclaimed expert then said, ay transmission! That's going to be expensive boy! Trolley sold again quickly. Later it turned out that only the left rear wheel had an imbalance. Could still kick me in the head. A good one cost 1000 guilders at the time... Sold for 350 and repaired for 15. Well.
