Find the first on 29 and April 30 Auto Motor Klassiek Festival in Zandvoort. Last week we announced the arrival of the festival through multiple channels. Among other things, we told that various historic racing classes from the HARC make their appearance in the North Holland seaside resort. These will not only be present for recreational and presentation purposes. Serious races are held in three classes that count towards the Dutch Championship. These racing classes consist of classic and younger circuit cars from the 1947-1990 period, subdivided into three categories.
1947-1965
The first category of HARC racers includes cars from the construction period 1947 to 1965. This series of historic racing vehicles will be competing on the track in Zandvoort under the banner "historic coaches and GTs". The field of participants can simply include historic Minis, MGBs, Fords, Jaguars and Porsches. Drivers from all over Europe come to race with and against each other and thus go back to the past. Incidentally, it also applies to this class that the cars must be prepared according to the historical specifications, and that means that the mechanics and the drivers are not allowed to add modernities to the original starting points.
Growing in popularity and size: NK TC and GT
The second category of HARC racers is popular and especially growing in size. This class also consists of historically prepared cars, with the difference that they were built from 1966 to 1981 and still have a prominent place in the collective memory. Here too, the cars must be prepared in accordance with the specifications from the past. Among the competition cars in this class are cars such as the Ford Escort Twin Cam and RS 1600, as well as the BMW 2002.
New: NK 82-90
The third and category is new. The NK 82-90 is intended for touring cars and GTs from the period 1982 to 1990 and is therefore called NK HARC '82 -'90. The class is for the touring cars and GTs of that time, but cup racers will also complete the starting field. Furthermore, the NK 82-90 made its debut last year and was well received by Dutch racing fans. The championship is one of the attractions during the AMK festival this year.
