Purchasing classics there

Is your classic insured against damage during journeys or rallies? It depends a lot on it. There is usually a clear exclusion clause in the insurance conditions.

During the last Motormarkt Hardenberg we talked about it with Steven Gerrits of Vetera (formerly Van Maarseveen). Steven said that 'sporting use' of classics is often a difficult point.

Participation in a classic ride is covered without any problems. But in the context of the game element, these must be journeys with an average speed of less than 50 km / h. And then that restriction must be included in the conditions in writing and be known to all participants.

The control of the conditions by the organization makes the case 'legal' for the insurer.

In conclusion, we can state that participation in round trips for classics and veterans gives no insurance problems as long as there is no competition element and if the average speed remains below the 50 km / h.

We note that this information comes from just 1 (sometimes very well-known) classic insurer. And that with the coming season coming, it is handy to read your insurance papers again.
