The warm weather of the period behind us has caused quite a few classic owners to drive around. The temperature meter indicated values against the boiling point. As a result, the engine oil also becomes too hot and thus loses much of its lubricating effect.
The final consequence: engine damage. The cooling system of your classic deserves attention. You can do it all yourself. Disconnect the lower water hose and collect the coolant and dispose of in an environmentally friendly way, and that is not via the sink, toilet or (street) well! Is chemical waste! Then remove the upper hose. Rinse the garden hose in the lower hose, tap open and reverse. You will be surprised how much 'dirt' will come out of the upper radiator connection. If you also want to clean the block in the opposite direction, connect the hose to one of the heater hoses. After completing your exercise, don't forget to reassemble all hoses, tighten the hose clamps properly and fill the system with coolant or anti-freeze water again ...
