Component provision: a plot.

The future of the classics of the future is uncertain. How many years after the end of a production, the increasingly integrated electronics continue to work, be repairable or available. What about the parts provision in general?

A conversation with someone who would rather not be mentioned by name gives a disturbing picture of the future for someone who - for example - wants to cherish his current Toyota, Peugeot or Opel for infinity. Or who has a young timer.

Manufacturers are legally obliged to provide a guaranteed parts supply for ten years after production ends.

They do that on a large scale…. Not.

Moreover, the batches of parts for the outgoing models are becoming increasingly expensive and of poorer quality.

That is a deliberate choice to speed up the extinction of model series.

Sad.
