A look back at the car year 1967 shows that the automobile industry brought a number of glorious models or provided refined models with characteristic changes. 1967 was also the year the launch of some particularly progressive automobiles. We have made a selection from the offer that Abraham sees this year. Today we present the third and final part of the triptych.

Ford P7a

In 1967, Ford replaces the beloved P5 Taunus with the larger and more business-like P7a. Design features such as the Huftschwung raise doubts within public opinion. The new Ford Meisterstück is available with various four and six-cylinder engines. Beautiful are also the hardtop versions of this model, which was built only 10 for months and was followed by the more tightly drawn P7b.

DAF 55

The DAF 1967 was born in December 55. The coach of the DAF 44 was the basis for the first four-cylinder car from DAF, which was fitted with an 1108 cc. Compared to the 44, the front was adjusted, the 55 was given different rear lights, a different suspension and a separate braking circuit. In 1968, the 55 series was expanded with a coupe and a combi. Also, as a result of the successes in the London-Sydney marathon, the Marathon was added later, with a modified version and a stronger 1108 cc engine. In 1972 the 55 was replaced by the improved 66.

Fiat Dino Coupé / Ferrari Dino

These coupes from Italy are family and made their debut in 1967. Enzo Ferrari developed the 2.0 V6 aluminum engine and named the power source after his deceased son. A change in racing regulations forced Ferrari to think about a car that would fit this power source. Ferrari enlisted the help of Fiat, which built the engines designed by Ferrari and also placed them in the Fiat Dino, which saw the light of day in 1967 as a beautiful coupé (the Spider preceded him in 1966). Because Fiat took care of the engine construction, Ferrari obtained the homologation for participation in the F2. Ferrari also built a car with the Dino engine. The special Ferrari Dino was produced at the end of 1967. We can safely say that the homologation requirement led to two (and including the Dino Spider three) fantastic cars.

Fiat 124 Coupé

After the 1966 Spider was revealed as a variation on the 124 theme in 124, 1967 followed the Coupé in March. The Coupé, designed within the Centro Stile, was based on the platform of the 124 Sedan and debuted with the 1438 cc engine, an 90 PK-supplying power source with double overhead camshaft. In three generations - and with multiple engine types - the beautiful, and with excellent driving characteristics endured in 1975.

Lotus Cortina Mark II

The second generation of the Lotus Cortina was clearly inspired by the Ford Cortina, which appeared in 1966. In 1967 the direct successor of the first Lotus Cortina followed. He had an 1558 cc engine with a double overhead camshaft. The capacity was 106 PK (ex factory) and the top speed was 170 kilometers per hour. Mark II was more reliable than the first generation and the handling was praised. 4.032 times the second generation of this icon was built in Dagenham, until production in 1970 was stopped.

Pontiac Firebird

General Motors developed the Chevrolet Camaro (1966) and the Pontiac Firebird, which debuted 1967 in January based on the GM F platform. Pontiac immediately offered a wide range of engines. The {entry level} had an 3,8 power source, the topper in the range was fitted with an 6.6 power source with 340 PK. The Firebird had beautiful lines and is one of the founders of the musclecar segment. In 1968 and 1969 - American traditionally - facelifts were applied to this impressive car. The introduction of the Trans Am in 1969 is also worth mentioning.

Nissan / Datsun Bluebird 510

In 1967, Nissan / Datsun introduced an extensive Nissan / Datsun 510 series (Bluebird). It was available with an 1.3 and 1.6 liter engine, among other things. Furthermore, this Bluebird was delivered during his career as a Sedan, coupe and station wagon. Illustrious were the SSS versions with two carburetors. The 510 enjoyed a lot of popularity, especially in the United States.
