On Friday 16 January, the makers of the BNR National Auto Show welcome an old acquaintance. Wouter van Embden from Stichting Autobelangen is a guest at the objective critical program of Business News Radio between 15.00 and 16.00.
In an interview with presenters Wouter Karssen and Meindert Schut, Van Embden informs the listeners about the progress in the old-timer file. There are several topics of conversation. For example, the disappointing revenues resulting from the current MRB scheme for old and young timers will be discussed. Van Embden will also comment on the documentary that Quinten Stroop made about the measure and its problems. In that report, Stroop spoke with stakeholders from industry, politics and supporters about the actual effects and concluded that there was only one reason to implement the current MRB measure: a financial one. Van Embden will elaborate on this in front of the BNR presenters and the listeners. Naturally, the developments in the legal case - which Autobelangen brought against the State - will also be discussed. A start will be made on the first of five test procedures on 26 February. These test procedures are of utmost importance for the old-timer supporters, since they can represent a major step in the aim of the Car Interests Foundation to achieve a fairer and fairer old-timer arrangement. An aim where new perspectives also seem to be forthcoming.
Old acquaintance of the BNR Auto Show
Wouter van Embden has performed more often in the National Auto Show at BNR. Already in 2009 he spoke with the then presenters Carlo Brantsen and Bas van Werven about the youngtimer tax and a year later he was a guest to unfold his vision on the total tax policy in the field of car taxes. Provincial surcharges and BPM were a few topics of discussion at the time. More recently - especially in 2013 - he spoke with the current presentation duo Karssen and Schut about the fight against the measures introduced and the information provided by former State Secretary Weekers, who informed the House of Representatives with incorrect information regarding import figures.
New chapter
On Friday 16 January, a new and in all likelihood interesting chapter will be added to the relationship between the National Auto Show of BNR and Wouter Karssen.
