The Van version remains a unique symbol for us, with which we can express our passion for cars.”
Choice for the Opel Rekord Vans
For lighter transport, Ruig later also opted for the reliable Opel Rekord in delivery version. Ruig has always emphasized a personal relationship with both customers and suppliers. We came across the beautifully maintained Opel Olympia Van at the Truck Festival in Stroe. In your opinion, does this iconic car also deserve all the admiration?
I am happy that my father's Opel has ended up in good condition after years of use for both business and private purposes and then being restored together with him.
I can still fondly remember that I learned to drive in this car at an early age.
I think this Opel started its career at a baker in Emmeloord, then sold to a blacksmith in Epe and then it was bought by Ruig in Oostzaan.
Bakker de Vries in Uithuizermeeden bought such an Opel Olympia Van from my father around 1953, in the same red colour.
