A friend of mine has an 1600 cc BMW. Not a classic car, but a new engine. Recently that showpiece had to go for a big turn. The specialist apparently applies an hourly rate of 100 euros.
That does quite a bit for the cost. Because the clock also ticks when dismantling and assembling the cockpit parts.
Including tires and some brake pads, that big turn cost more than 1500 euros.
My KMZ 750 side valve combination also needed major maintenance. Despite the fact that the tricycle is about 60 years old, it is still used almost daily. That cuts in.
My garage hours go for the zero euro rate. But the rest was not too bad. Of course the valves were adjusted, the ignition checked and the carburetors viewed. Furthermore it needed:
3 liters of engine oil (about 25 euros)
1 liter of cooking oil (approx. 8 euros)
2 spark plugs (approx. 8 euros)
1 tire (approx. 70 euros)
* The rear wheel had a few broken spokes. New spokes were still in stock.
* Universal joint of the cardan was broken. Another cardan was just made. With the angle grinder.
* The rear brake lining and was replaced.
Additional costs were: a few pilings when an acquaintance came by at the end of the afternoon
The total costs were around the 100 euro.
Such a new BMW remains a nice motorcycle.
Yet…

@Max Verver: he brought that knowledge in exchange for the lagers, so they don't count on the bill….
