Purchasing classics there

Father and son, Henk and Chris Kuiper, share not only a love for classic cars, but also for adventure. Their choice of the Aston Martin DB2 as a companion for the Mille Miglia is no coincidence. This car, with its rich history and classic appearance, represents the perfect marriage between prestige and performance. The DB2, with a 2,6 liter six-cylinder Lagonda engine that produces 105 hp, is more than just a vehicle; it is a piece of moving art.

From spectator to protagonist

Originally attracted as spectators, the Kuipers could not resist the call of the Mille Miglia. After their first experience on the sidelines, they decided it was time to participate themselves. This decision marked the beginning of a series of unforgettable adventures with the Aston Martin DB2. The car, which had previously proven itself to be a worthy competitor, offered them the opportunity to experience for themselves the challenges and beauty of this historic race.

Strict selection overcome

Admission to the Mille Miglia is a strict process. Each car must be original and have a history that fits the criteria of the race. The Aston Martin met all these requirements and more, allowing the duo to be admitted to this prestigious event time and time again. This not only underlines the authenticity of the DB2, but also its unparalleled class and durability.

Challenges on the road

Every Mille Miglia brings new challenges, from night-time stages to unforeseen mechanical problems. Despite these obstacles, the DB2 has proven itself time and time again. With an extra cooling fan adapted to combat overheating, and even improvised repairs during the race, the Kuipers have reached the finish line every year. These challenges strengthen the bond between them and their car, a bond as indestructible as the car itself.

A social spectacle

The Mille Miglia is more than a race; it is a cultural phenomenon. The Kuipers experienced how, surrounded by other car enthusiasts and classic cars, they were part of something bigger. Their stories about the race, from navigating hairpin bends to the social gatherings after each day, capture the unique atmosphere of this event. Sharing experiences with fellow participants, from the driver in a Ferrari to that in a Fiat Topolino, enriches their experience all the more.

Protection of a passion

Back home, the Kuipers continue their involvement in the classic car community. They can often be found at local gatherings and events, sharing their passion for the Aston Martin DB2 and the Mille Miglia with like-minded people and newcomers. Their efforts help keep this rich tradition alive and protect the future of classic cars.

The Aston Martin DB2 is not only a symbol of automotive heritage, but also a testament to the timeless beauty and excitement that classic cars can provide. The story of the Kuipers with this remarkable car during the Mille Miglia is an inspiring chapter in the rich history of classic car racing and can be found in Auto Motor Klassiek number 5 of 2024, which you can now find in the store. 1. I can totally imagine what experiences the Kuipertjes have. I personally participated in this event as press at least 12 times. I hope to do it one more time within the next two years and then I think I'll have to give up on Maarten due to age, but the memories remain.
