The classic motorcycle world was shaken when a fire broke out on August 2nd at Blauweplaat Motoren, a famous trade specialized in 70s Honda 4-cylinder motorcycles. Located in Veldhoven, the business has a huge following among enthusiasts of classic motorcycles.

Marc Nudeborn, the passionate owner, was on vacation when disaster struck. The fire not only destroyed most of the building, but also left a black layer of soot and smoke on machines and parts. "I'm devastated," said Nakedborn, who added that his insurance coverage doesn't cover property damage.

A heartwarming wave of solidarity has been set in motion. A crowdfunding campaign, started by fellow entrepreneur Marcel den Butter, aims to provide financial support for the reconstruction of Blauweplaat. “The support I have already received in all kinds of ways touches me enormously. It gives me strength to keep going,” said an emotional, Naked Born.

Nudeborn and his team have already started repair work and sorting usable parts. They hope to resume limited services in October. However, a full reopening is not expected until the second quarter of 2024.

The fire and subsequent efforts to restore the business left a deep impression on the community. Caspar Nuijens, a loyal reader of Auto Motor Klassiek, called for a positive article to be published in support of Naked Born and his company: “This should appeal to you as petrol heads and classic enthusiasts.”

To contribute to the reconstruction of Blauweplaat Motoren, you can donate through them crowdfunding page.

  1. There is nothing worse than fire and water damage. Disastrous!!
How is it possible that the insurance does not cover such material damage? Hopefully some of those bikes can be saved by cleaning and such. Boy, is it sad!
