Purchasing classics there

De Citroën Dyane was offered in two versions. The basic model was equipped with a 425 cm³ engine, while the Dyane 6 was equipped with a 602 m³ engine with a maximum speed of 110 km per hour. Both very manageable, modern cars in the 70s with great road stability - contact with the road is never interrupted - and the proverbial comfort. The motor was very strong and could run for hours at high speed without any problem.

The modern sister of the 2 CV

Moreover, the Citroën Dyane elegant, a child of the 2 CV family and not tied to fashion. The sunbed at home can go, with the Dyane the sun has free reign. And speaking of this convenience. The front part opens in one movement. No need to get out, rolled up above the rear window with a total opening. This beautiful, restored luxury Citroën Dyane 6 is now stealing the show in the Lijzenga showroom in Damwoude. There is respect for the past Citroën and comes with classic models that still appeal to many people. In addition to the financial aspect of sales and maintenance, the 'heart' for classic cars is also clearly present and that remains a plus.

A long history

This was from 1974 Citroën Family-owned Dyane, the love of the quirky Citroën passed from one family member to another all these years. The years of complete restoration were completed by a complete overhaul of the engine, which means that it is now ready for a new future. As an old-timer/classic, the Citroën Dyane almost a serious art form, a good car design from a bygone era that still appeals. At the Citroën family was the Citroën Dyane has been a regular part of car life for a long time, talk about a lasting relationship!

  1. This was my first car in the 70s. Went to France with a friend to go camping. Large bungalow tent and camping gear in the back. Uphill in first gear in mountainous area. Then full throttle down through the bends. What a handling. On July 14, in the middle of Bordeaux, the engine stalled for one Citroën garage. The garage owner only wanted to help us after seeing some holiday money. An airscrew had vibrated out of the carburetor. A votre service!, What a time. The brake linings or brake shoes had to be renewed and centered regularly. What a nice and economical car.
Especially driving in the summer with the hood open.

  2. Yes friends (m/f) also my 1st car was a Citroen Dyane: 51-86-PP. cheapest convertible at the time! 1st gear: pull the handle forward left, 2nd straight forward, 3rd straight back, 4th see 1st, but then to the right. Backwards: left to the back. I like to trade my Porsche GTS for an hour back to 1973…..Mon Dieu!

  3. Great car, I also had one, moved complete household goods with it, and ideal with warm weather, open the roof and go with that banana, it was also a yellow one, all in all, had a lot of fun with it and you could drive for next to nothing , you almost got road tax back,

  4. My first own car. On the Afsluitdijk with storm winds, sometimes back to 3.
My father loved to take her fishing.
    Back seat out and fishing.
Unfortunately victim of the rust devil.

  5. Have you ever received a Dyane as a gift. Bonnet hinge was replaced with tape and elastic bands against blowing open. Windshield wiper mechanism jammed in loose rusted windshield frame. Bottom plates and trunk floor were also in very questionable condition.
Everything fixed and sold four years ago due to owning too many A types. Still had 28 years.
Drove wonderfully. Even the heating worked well.
    Dyane appears to still exist.

  6. My brother had a Diane at the time. 85 to 90 km with gas on the shelf with wind against .... and yes 100 .. with wind behind .... great time…and great car,s ..

  7. Marco W. my first car was a mountainside isabella. It was brilliant that was a nice car. I don't have space, but otherwise I would buy an older car again… wonderful.

  8. Seeing this car makes me happy and now (I'm from '61) I'm getting a bit more hard of hearing, the burden of too much noise is less. You don't get that much joy from modern cars.

    • An uncle of mine had one, a yellow always party with that car, especially in the bends he throttled back little and I still hear that typical sound of that whirring engine.

  9. in the 70s modern cars with great road stability – contact with the road is never interrupted – and the proverbial comfort. The motor was very strong and could run for hours at high speed without any problem.

Hmmm, even in the 70s that business was heavily underpowered.
My dad with his 4's R60 XNUMX-speed blew every Duck off the road, including the Diane.
You only achieved the high speed with a tow rope.

And too expensive compared to the Duck.
Nostalgia is fun, but it has to be realistic.
My 1965 A Kadett is many times more modern and faster than the whole Diane.
And you don't want to take it on the highway anymore.

    Sorry.

    • What's the use of this criticism?
You always have cars that are better, but that's not the point. You are a fan or not. If you can't stand old cars, why do you read posts from people who do their best to present good stories and reports?

    • Comparing an A kadett with a Dyane. Not possible, such a loft with rigid axles. Didn't drive or drive for a meter. Where was the modern then? Sorry.
Nice to see now, but you have to be realistic.

  10. The Dyane was intended as a successor to the (then) very old 2cv
and was also outlived by this predecessor, the 2cv.
Even in 2023, these classic cars will still have consumption and handling to say the least.

    • In 2 I traveled high up in Norway with my 4cv1971. Still single. Only with a driver's seat. Could also sleep in it in an emergency. What a time, look everywhere there. Have had a really sweet Partner for almost 50 years now, but also have one from Peugeot.
